Define the column type in a collection or variable

I have a tempcollection for values used throughout the entire app.

A value of 'contract: wholenumber' is also used.

I was interested when I used this whole number in a simple filter to a live connection where

Filter('Service Code',Contract=First(TempCollection).Contract)

A delegation warning appears.

If I change this to Filter('Service Code',Contract=1)

The delegation warning dissapears.

How can i be certain what the datatype for the column is? Somewhere in my code, the datatype changed when a patch to tempcollection was performed.

Note 'contract' is the ID column of a sharepoint list.

ID columns in SharePoint are numbers. If you have a doubt regarding the value, you can multiply it by 1. That is a shortcut that will convert text to a number. It is the same as wrapping it in Value(text).

My only method is now to make little collections of this item, or global / context variables. Doing so captures the int32 column correctly.

Thanks guys.

But defining a column data type in a collection that you create yourself for int32 is still unknown to me.
