Delegation incoherence

Hello everyone!

I'm developping an interface which needs to use the Search function to search in a datatable that is connected to a Sharepoint list.

According to : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/delegation-overview, Sharepoint is a delegable datasource AND under "Filter functions" it says that : "Filter, Search, and LookUp can be delegated."

Keep in mind my Sharepoint list is more than 500 rows (which is why delegation is important here).

This is why i do not understand that I get warnings regarding delegation in my app. I'm using a delegable function on a datatable which uses a delegable ressource

Here is the code i'm using as the datatable's Items property : If(IsBlank(Searchbox) ;Sort(SharepointList; Column 1); Search(Sharepointlist; Searchbox.Text; "Column 1")). The text in blue is where i get the blue squiggle (whatever it's official name is). I hope I was clear enough.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Anonymous

Delegation can be quite a confusing topic. The problem is that Search isn't a delegable function and that's the reason why you see the blue squiggle. The Search function is delegable for some data sources, but not SharePoint.

For SharePoint, the following provides a more useful reference.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/sharepointonline/

As the table shows, StartsWith and Filter are the 2 most useful delegable functions that you can use with SharePoint. Hope that's of some use.
