Design samples to learn from? Capacity planning/modelling

I searched "capacity planning", but results are swamped with discussions around hardware/memory  vs. what I'm looking for, so posting in the hopes someone can point me in the right direction.

 

I'm accessing PA inside teams, and there appears to be 8 templates (employee suggestions, issue reporting, etc.) none of which appear helpful starting places for what I'd like to learn to create.

 

Some years ago, I developed a capacity planning model (in VBA) that took a backlog of hundreds of items, checked which locations could process those items (based on equipment and staffing), sorted the orders so they would be processed based on target delivery date instead of FIFO (because different items took different amounts of time to process, and FIFO resulted in late orders). 

 

I am now in a different organization, and have run into another opportunity to build a capacity tool to help others - but the world has advanced, and whatever I build needs to be available via the intranet (and on mobile devices) to all work locations. As best I can tell, PA is the MS-recommended solution (vs an Access web app or something else).

 

Since my experience is limited to (non-recent) VBA, I was hoping folks here could point me to more open-source templates or samples related to manufacturing capacity planning across multiple 'nodes', so I can start understanding the PA environment and learn how to create this type of application for our use case.

Hi @KERATL ,

 

One thing you need to know is it's not possible to use PowerApps exclusively on an intranet. Power Apps is a cloud service and the apps you created will be stored on cloud, as the result, users will need to connect to internet when they use the App.

 

Speaking of sample apps, you could try the trial license and learn to create Apps on PowerApps studio , there will be more sample apps for your reference.

 

IMO, to learn to create a Canvas App, data sources as well as UI designing are the most important points. You will need to plan your data, saving, updating and displaying data through the UI in the App. So the keys are:

If your org have the Office 365 license suite and license will be assigned to all the app users, they will be able to use Power Apps as well as Dataverse for Teams, so this may not be quite important.
