Detail screen records disappears

Hello,

My app has is showing data when I submit data but when navigating back from the BrowseGallery to that item the records disappears.

The only time it doesn't do this is when I enter the columns in the BrowseGallery, but when I re-edit the app the data disappears and I would have to reenter the data through the BrowseGallery again in order to see the data, but doesn't show on the phone app.

Button Icon that goes to detail screen from Gallery:

Set(glbCurrentRecord, ThisItem); Navigate(DetailScreen1)

DetailForm:

Item: glbCurrentRecord

DataSouce: Bincount (SQL table)

EditForm:

Item: glbCurrentRecord

OnSuccess: Back(); Set(glbCurrentRecord, Self.LastSubmit); Notify("Success: form was successfully saved", NotificationType.Success);

Thanks,

Jvang

@RandyHayes,

No, apparently.

as for a01b and a02a the only thing that comes to mind would probably be my Item in BrowseGallery where when I created the app it defaulted to this code.

Item: SortByColumns(Search([@'[dbo].[bincount]'], TextSearchBox1.Text, "PartNumber","a01b","a02a"), "PartNumber", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))

Thanks,

Jvang

Okay, these are all the classic signs that that "explicit column selection" option is turned on.  You are sure it is off?

Yep, sure is off!

So, then to recap...

Your OnSelect of the Gallery, you are setting a variable - Set(glbCurrentRecord, ThisItem)

Your form has an Item property of glbCurrentRecord

If you add a label to the gallery for something like ThisItem.a02b and then, before it did not appear in the form, and now with that reference it does?

Please verify and clarify the above statements.

@RandyHayes,

Yes, that is in the Item property of my forms. (Detail/Edit)

Yes, with that glbCurrentRecord in the item property, it would show once I enter ThisItem.a02b ect. in the Gallery to the detail/edit form.

Thanks,

So again, this is an absolute classic example of what happens when that explicit columns feature is turned on.  BUT, you showed it being off.  So, what is going on here??

Try this, once you click on an item in your gallery, stop the player and examine the variable glbCurrentRecord.  Do you see the value for a02b in there (along with all the others) or is it missing?

@RandyHayes,

Sorry, I'm a bit confused on (stop the player and examine the variable) part. I would assume I would press the play icon and navigate from my gallery (by selecting a partnumber) to detail screen and then exit and see if there are records showing in a02b correct?

If so, I am still seeing only PartNumber, TotalBinLo, DateModified, a01b, and a02a with data. everything else doesn't have records in.

If not, if I enter in the ThisItem.a02b in the Gallery and then navigate to the detail screen then yes, there is data shown for all.

Thanks,

Jvang

So to be clear again on terminology, you will not see any records in those columns.  They contain values from your datasource only for the record that is stored in the glbCurrentRecord variable.

What I need you to do is to select the record from the gallery and then stop the player (yes, click the X on the top right of the app to stop it).  Then go to the View menu and then to Variables.  Look at the global variables and then find the glbCurrentRecord variable and click on it.  You should then be able to click on the record icon under the name of it shown and then see all of the contents of that variable.

@RandyHayes,

For some reason, it is showing my data today. The only thing that comes to mind would be the Explicit Column Selection being turned off.

As for the Variables with glbCurrentRecord this is what I see.

Thanks,
