Different behavior in versions 3.18091.19 and 3.18084.12

This worked in the past in 3.18084.12

Patch(
    'Onboarding Requests',
    RequestGallery.Selected,
    {
        Coordinator: {
            '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
            Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(User().Email),
            Department: "",
            DisplayName: User().Email,
            Email: User().Email,
            JobTitle: ".",
            Picture: "."
        }
    },
    {
        Status: {
            '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
            ID: 2,
            Value: "Ready to Send to Resource"
        }
    }
);
UpdateContext({showPopup: false})

It took a second or two before the Status field automatically changed to Ready, which triggered then the visibility of a "Send" button.

As of today, this doesn't work anymore. Well, it still nicely does the patching, correctly updates Coordinator and Status field behind the scenes, hides the popup, but the screen is not updating. If I go back to the Gallery and reopen the item, everything is fine.

I restored a version published in 3.18084.12 and it still worked, I compared all the related code, but couldn't find any difference. It looks like something that was default behavior went astray. What could it be?

Re: Different behavior in versions 3.18091.19 and 3.18084.12

In a pretty desperate attempt to fix this I added

Refresh('Onboarding Requests');ResetForm(EditForm1)

to the OnSelect event of the button that triggers the patch. And hooray it worked! New status popped up, button visible, all fine.

But only about 3 times, then it stopped working. I really need some help to understand what's going on. The patch function itself is working fine, it's immediate, you can see this when you go back to the Gallery. Why isn't the reset EditForm1 bringing up the patched values? Are these commands executed in sequential order, or all at once and some could start before others have finished?
