Display Attachments from SharePoint selected item

Hi

So I am trying to get attachments for selected item in a gallery and display the attachments in power apps.

Now I am able to do so by using if my gallery is just connected to the SharePoint list. But my gallery is connected to a collection and when I am using a collection i cannot get the .Attachments.

Gallery1.Selected.'{Attachments}'

How are people solving this?

I need to be able to display all attachments a selected item has in powerapps.

Hi @JimmyWork ,

Does your Gallery connect to a collection rather than a SP List?

If your Gallery connects to a collection rather than a SP List, you would not be able to access the "Attachments" field within your Gallery.

When you save your SP List records into a collection, the Attachments field value would not be saved into this collection. If you want to access the Attachments field through the collection within your Gallery, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

Currently, you could consider retrieve the corresponding Attachments for specific record using LookUp function. On your side, you could consider connect your Gallery1 to the collection table, then set the Items property of the Attachments control to following:

LookUp('Your SP List', ID = Gallery1.Selected.ID).Attachments

Hi @JimmyWork ,

You can of sorts by a Lookup to the source of the collection

LookUp(YourListName,ID = ThisItem.ID,'{Attachments}')

You can get the number of them with

CountRows(
   LookUp(
      YourListName,
      ID = ThisItem.ID
   ).Attachments
)

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.

@WarrenBelz My gallery is a collection it does not return the attachments. CountRows not delegate.

Im trying to actually show the files and it does not seem possible in a collection?

Hi @JimmyWork ,

I believe not as a collection, even using the full data source does not bring the attachments in and yes, CountRows is not delegable, however it can be used on smaller data sets without warnings (strange)

@WarrenBelz Thank you for taking your time and answering.

My gallery uses a collection due to delegate so my gallery item = collectTickets

When you use a collection you do not get .Attachments this is not available.

My list will have more then 5000 items.
And i can view the attachments from a gallery that uses the list but i cannot use it if i use a collection.
So below i have a gallery set like this.

Gallery items = TestList
Then i have a Attachment control that i set to Gallery1.Selected.Attachments

So when i click the selected item it displays the attached files and i can download them and so on.

But if i i have my gallery set to a collection i cannot get this option because collections wont contain the attachment.

Hi @JimmyWork ,

Is this the same issue as this thread?

@WarrenBelz Similar issue correct. The difference is that the first screen it works on but when you move to the next screen and you have 2 gallerys then this issue with showing and not showing the attachments begins.

It does not seem to be a delay issue but i will try it. But i should not have to do all those collections and refreshes, but i actually saw this issue before and the solution was to do 1 refresh, 1 collection and then another refresh.

But I'm wonder how much it will affect the apps performance and user experience with multiple users using it.

And again, thank you for taking your time and answering

@v-xida-msft Thank you

Currently i have 2 gallery's one is hidden and i filter this gallery based on the gallery that uses a collection to get the attachment.

Filter(TestList,
(IDsingle = varTicketID))

By using Lookup it seems i do not need a second hidden gallery and i can lookup the item using ID or even my own generated ID. I will test this out but it seems to be a very good solution

Hi @JimmyWork ,

Yeah, you are right. The LookUp function I provided above could retrieve related attachments for specific record in your SP List based on a specific Item ID value.

Please take a try with it, then check if it could help in your scenario. If the solution I provided above could achieve your needs, please go ahead to click "Accept as Solution" to identify this thread has been solved.
