Drop Down Fields Stop Working

I am connecting a canvas PowerApp to a SharePoint list, and randomly all but one of my drop down fields have stopped working.  Some are lookup, some are multi-select, some are both, some are neither.  The one that is still working is the one that I added most recently, a multi-select lookup.  I searched through the forum and the only leads I have found are 1) It's a temporary bug on Microsoft's side; or 2) I'm not leveraging a Collection.  This happened last week and after browsing the forum, I checked the Advanced Settings and found that Explicit Column Selection was already "Off", but I toggled Delayed Load to "Off" and that fixed it until this week when it happened again.  I have three EditScreens and I am using Patch to submit.  Here is an example of the code I have for Items; please note that I am filtering out blank lines that are appearing above the list of values in the drop downs for some reason:

 

Filter(Choices('Engagement Form'.Engagement_Type), !IsBlank(Value))

 

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Emmanuel,

I changed my Items value to

Filter(Choices('Engagement Form'.Engagement_Type),Not(IsBlank(Value)))

and it worked for about an hour before reverting to the past behavior of not returning any values.

I guess I'm not following you - the Pulldown list is used only in a Read Only capacity, as it feeds values to several of the columns in the main list.  This is for convenient maintenance; creating individual lists for each of the lookup columns defeats the purpose of that and obviously I would just use standard drop-down columns in the main list instead.

Yeah, I didn't have any errors on the form at all; the drop-downs just suddenly stopped working.

Hi @JRuss,

I've noticed that many people have had issues with combo boxes since the PowerApps core was last updated. On my side, republishing my SharePoint forms fixed the issue.

On the other hand, I'm quite puzzled to hear that the combo box works for about an hour or so and then just simply stops working. This sounds more like a platform problem. Don't really know how to help you on this... Maybe send a ticket to the PowerApps team.

Same thing happened to me and I noticed it yesterday while doing a demo (those darn demo-demons!!)

My dropdown box stopped working and stopped showing my choice items. I came across an option in the advanced settings of the SharePoint list. The Quick property editing was set to 'NO' and I don't know why because I didn't change anything. I set it back to 'YES', checked if I could use the Quick property editing in SharePoint again and this works.

To make it work in the PowerApp I went into the Edit mode of the PowerApp, refreshed the datasources and republished the app. After that my dropdowns worked again.

 

To adjust the Quick property editing option go to your SharePoint list settings en go to advanced settings. Here you will find this option.
