Dropdown Column dependent on Variable

I have a collection :

ClearCollect(
    EQU_UTIL_OPTIONS,
    {
        id: 1,
        eng: "",
        spa: ""
    },
    {
        id: 2,
        eng: "Weather",
        spa: "Clima"
    },
    {
        id: 3,
        eng: "Repair",
        spa: "Reparar"
    },
    {
        id: 4,
        eng: "Preventative Maintenance",
        spa: "Mantenimiento preventivo"
    },
    {
        id: 5,
        eng: "In Transport",
        spa: "En transporte"
    },
    {
        id: 6,
        eng: "Available for Release (however, job will be charged if subsequently used on the job)",
        spa: "Disponible para liberación (sin embargo, el trabajo se cobrará si se usa posteriormente en el trabajo)"
    },
    {
        id: 7,
        eng: "No Operator",
        spa: "Sin operador"
    },
    {
        id: 8,
        eng: "Not Needed Fullday",
        spa: "No se necesita día completo"
    }
)

I'm trying to feed a dropdown from this collection.  I want it to display the value based upon a variable "varlang"

If( varlang = "E" ,

SortByColumns(EQU_UTIL_OPTIONS,"id").eng, SortByColumns(EQU_UTIL_OPTIONS,"id").spa)

It doesn't like it all.
Any ideas?

@cpolito

Consider changing your formula to the following:

SortByColumns(
    EQU_UTIL_OPTIONS,
    If(varlang="E",
        "eng",
        "spa"
    )
)

I hope this is helpful for you.
