Dropdown on edit screen

I have a dropdown on an edit screen that works fine when adding new records.  

When editing an existing record, though, the dropdown does not show the value of the field that the data card is bound to - it shows the first record of the dropdown items list.

I've tried setting the Default for the dropdown to be parent.default and to CustomerID (the name of the field), but it still doesn't work.

Hi Dfin,

What’s the data source? How is your app configured?

I created an app based on SharePoint list. And there is a Lookup column in my list.
On the App, the Lookup column will be shown as a Dropdown box.
I found that when adding a new record, I can see all the items when clicking the dropdown box. While when I editing the existing record, the value in the Lookup field cannot be changed.

The data is coming from a table in Azure SQL.
