I want to use an edit form to edit a data source. Each card on the form should edit one specific field (datafield). The cards, however, don't necessarily operate on the same record. take the following example:
EditForm1 and Table1 are created (see below). EditForm1 has two cards: Card1 and Card2. Card1 should update and only update the filed at position R1C3 (current value = 40). Card2 should update and only update R3C1 (current value = Obj.3).
Name Color Quantity
Obj.1 green 40
Obj.2 blue 80
Obj.3 red 12
I understand that the property "Item" is where the record is specified, while the property "Datafield" specifies the column. The combination of these two produces a specific field. For each card, I can specify the latter property, "Datafield." In contrast, however, I can only specify the property, "Item," for the whole form (not for each card).
One solution could be inserting multiple forms for each card, but this, as you propaply know, would slow down my program. Any suggestions on this issue ?
Sounds like you need to use a gallery, then you can show multiple records, but you probably have to ditch the form and take care of the updating yourself via Patch.
The forms operate on a single record at a time. How come you want to update different records/fields in the same form at the same time? Can you redesign the app to use a single record?
Thank you for the response. My app basically fill user inputs to a an excel-made form (later to be exported and printed as PDF). I figured I would formatt portions of the form, where text need to be added, as a table in order to access certain cells. I hope this makes the idea more clear. The problem with patch is that it doesn't work sometime. I reboot Powerapps and Patch work as charm. Thus, I figured the function is failing silently. Thakn
It's still a bit confusing that you want to edit several different records in one screen; that seems like a disaster waiting to happen. One good thing about using an EditForm is that it takes care of a lot of the error handling for you and you don't need to us Patch.
Can you have a gallery on the left or upper part of the screen, and when the user wants to change something you can display an EditForm to the right or below? You change only what you need to change on a per record basis.
Can you show a screen dump of your app and /or the code you use? It makes it earier to understand what you want to do.
