EditForm binding to local collection

Hi,

I used the following formula to create a local collection but not actually download any data. I essentially only wanted the structure as this power app would be push data only.

ClearCollect(LocalCustomerFeedback,Filter('[dbo].[CustomerFeedBackForm]',CustomerFeedBackFormId = 0))

However when I dropped an EditForm onto the canvas and set the DataSource = LocalCustomerFeedback  the fields did not populate as I would have expected.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

J

Hi

You can bind the local collection to the Editform but the designer will be greyed out though..

see the work around suggested and hope that helps you.

Re: EditForm binding to local collection

Hi

If i understood your question correctly, Edit Form can only bind to a single record so please refer to the below article and this should be able to help you.

The Idea is you can have your Gallery Control and Bind your collection to it and from there you can load your Edit Form

Re: EditForm binding to local collection

Hi @macrag,

I understand that the gallery control can connect to the collection however I essentially only want that collection to contain new records and there would be no editing of records.  e.g Once they are uploaded to the server then they are no longer required. So maybe I could have a gallery control but hide it?

I would have thought the EditForm control would work as a NewForm. I just can't work out how in the web designer (preview) to hook up the fields of a local collection to that EditForm. In the end I would expect to call NewForm(Form1) and it to create a record on that local collection

Thanks

J

Vote for this idea if you would like support for collections to be used as a fully functional datasource in display and edit forms!
