Editing Field Display Name

Hello Community,

OK... so building my first entity here, and have my first field.  Horray.  However, I have tried editing this field's Display Name but it seems that the Display Name is not editable.  Is there something I need to do to make it editable?

Hi @Anonymous - some system fields don't allow the display name to be cchanged. Can you tell me which field you're trying to change? Is it on a standard or custom entity?

Thank you for the prompt reply @CWesener!  In this case it is a Custom Entity and the default "Primary Name" Text field that is created with that.  This isn't a system entity/field from what I can tell.

EDIT:  To be sure, the NAME is not editable, which is understandable, but it's surprising to see the Display Name not editable, which is why I ask.

Thanks @Anonymous - unfortunately at this point, the Display name of the Primary name field can't be changed. The display name can be changed on other fields, just not the Primary field as it's used in a variety of scenarios. It would be great if you could post this on the ideas forum so we can see how important this is to the community.

I guess I am a little confused on what Primary Name means.  Is it just the "Name" field that you usually see with objects?  Trying to find documentation around this field but am not finding anything useful, unfortunately.  If you know of a resource that explains this further (and even better the reasoning on why this field's display name is locked after creation), it would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks again!
