Editing from the details screen

I have built a basic canvas app using all the normal pages and when I come to edit from the details page I find I can't edit the details.  I have tried from the SharePoint list and that's fine but not from within the app.  My Edit mode is set to New but I changed it to Edit and I get the same error.  Any ideas why I can't edit.

Re: Editing from the details screen

Hi @Sdjackson ,

Of course, set Update property of Data card to Text(Now(),DateTimeFormat.ShortDateTime), then whether the title card is visble or not, the title column will save the current time on each submit.

@Sdjackson

Does your app have a button to navigate from the details screen to the edit screen?

If so, what is the formula for the edit button?

Re: Editing from the details screen

Thank you for responding to my plea for help.

Yes, the icon has this formula:

EditForm(EditForm1);Navigate(EditScreen1, ScreenTransition.None)

Re: Editing from the details screen

Hi @Sdjackson ,

Could you please share more details with your scenario? What's the situation that you can't edit?  What is the error shown in the PowerApps? Could you pose some screenshots?

Please ensure the form is Edit form, not display form, and set the Items property of editform properly. If you want to edit the record, you have to set it to the Items property.

If this doesn't make sense, please share more details.

Best regards

Sik

Re: Editing from the details screen

Sik,

Thank you for responding.  This is the error I get.  I can edit the detail in the SharePoint list but for some reason I can't edit it in the PowerApp.

I have Gallery, Details and Edit screens.  I click the Edit pencil in the Details screen and it takes me to the Edit screen but when I try to change any fields the message below comes up.

Re: Editing from the details screen

Sik,

You made me think and I have worked out what it is.  I had the Title field invisible because I can't see a use for it in this form.  Therefore, I had added the default to be Value(Identifier) and when I am editing the form that is left blank?  Is there a better 'thing' I can put in the Title box (perhaps even a date and time modified) so it automatically fills and then I can keep it hidden?
