Empty DataCard

Hello,

 

I have a DataCard that is connected to the "Created By" column in SharePoint, but the DataCard field in the app is empty. What should I write in the items property to make it visible?

The CreatedBy column is not a column that you can add data to as it is created when a user creates an item in SharePoint, this is automatic. In SharePoint, the record doesn't exist until its submit in PowerApps so the createdby field also does not exist. An easy way to achieve what you are after is to select the createdby data card and add a label and set the text property to User().FullName or User().Email, what ever you prefer. 

if you are creating a new record the createdby doesn't exist so you need the label to be visible, if you are editing an existing record, you don't want the label to be visible because the creadedby does exist, therefore, you need to change the visible property of the label to Form1.Mode = FormMode.New. this means that the label will only show when the form is creating a new item. you will need to change Form1 to your form name.

If you have that datacard on a form, define the item of the form. Them, set on the default property

Parent.Default

 

or

 

Gallery1.Selected.'Created by'.DisplayName

 

 

If you have the data card on a gallery you can try something like:

 

ThisItem.'Created by'.DisplayName

The created by field should be the user's name or email. When I added the data card automatically the Items property is set as: Choices([@'Leave Request'].Author).

But nothing is appearing in the created by field, as it is empty.

Before you go to that screen, are you selecting an item?

If not, is normal that you dont see no one

The field should be filled automatically based on who is logged in.

For example, if I'm using the app, then the created by field should automatically have my name

Just use:

User().Email 

or

User().DisplayName

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Results posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
