End Users receive pop-up asking for permission when launching Power Apps

Hi Team ,

I have created a Power Apps form to submit data to a SharePoint list. This form is shared with the whole organisation providing them with 'User' access on it.

Problem Statement : When any of the end user opens the form for the first time , they have to 'Allow' access as seen below. This is not user friendly and can be confusing for most non-technical users. Is there a way to allow this by default so that every user does not require to go through the pop-up. We have alreay given them the required access on the form and the list it connects to. We have SSO(Single sign on) enabled on the enviroment.

Your early response will be appreciated as we are planning to go live soon.

Thanks & Regards ,

You must first publish the PowerApp as BOTH the PowerApp owner and as an o365 Global Admin. Afterwards you can republish only as owner.

Beg-borrow-steal temporary acccess to an o365 Global admin role to first publish it, then the role can be revoked and you should still be able to re-publish future updates without the prompt reoccuring.

I'm astonished PowerApps hasn't been made this more straight-forward and surprised there aren't more people complaining.  I'm considering unleashing a Twitter social-shaming campaign with #stopthemadness as the official hash-tag Smiley Indifferent

So, if you publish it as an owner and an o365 global admin you don't need to use powershell?

It's an unbelievable bit of faff!

@bangorkeith sorry for the confusion - You do have to run the Powershell - as both the owner and the GA.  The reason I make the distinction is because you can't just get someone else as GA to run the PowerShell command.  The executing account has to simultaneously be the PowerApp owner, publisher and an o365 Global Admin.

This is all tribal-knowledge from permeations of my experimentations, I'd love it if somebody from the PowerApps Team would chime in here and provide some actual facts if it's easier than what I've made out.

Ah balls.  That's never going to happen in our place I wouldn't have thought, too many other big fish to fry.

Powerapps seems a bit of a dead duck for me now with such simple issues not having simple fixes!

Rats, thanks Neville - don't think it would be possible to get O365 Global Admin privliges in my company, guess we are stuck with that permissions screen.  It wouldn't matter if I did not have an O365 data source associated with the Powerapp?

Powershell doesn't recognize this command. I keep getting this pop up repeatedly even after selecting the sign in button

Hi,

I have created 2 connections in my PowerApps, 1st connection is a SQL connector and 2nd connection is a custom connector to connect to an Azure Function.

Using these PowerShell commands, I can supress the SQL connector but the custom connector popup still appears.

Any idea, how can I supress the custom connector as well.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mabel,

Some users are worried about the access. They are thinking that by allowing the OneDrive access , the application access there files in OneDrive. So in order give a proper justification do we have any documentation from Microsoft for this ?

Which will explain by allowing the access it only allow to create connection not to access the personal files in OneDrive.

Thanks in Advance!

Agreed. We developed a solution for release to our whole enterprise. About 3000 users used it the first week and I got about 500 complaints. Mostly users confused about why they were getting the prompt, concerned about if they were sharing their sharepoint data. Some who actually couldn't connect thru. And more than a couple who were just upset that it was janky.

It's crazy. Any app your develop creates its own credentialed connection, and doesn't use the user's own credential. PowerApp is just not a solution to very much.

Yea don't get me started about the fact that you have to set the users themselves to contribute permissions if they're submitting data. So they can discover the list location and read the whole **bleep** thing. Genius.
