I just deleted my Trial Environment and now my production environment (default) has this error:
You'll need a database to use this feature. Choose Create database and we'll set one up for you.
I tried all the apps listed and they all opened without error in both view and edit mode.
Go to Solution.
I never (knowingly) used CDS or setup CDS in this default environment. I'm not an admin in this environment, btw.
It's worth noting since my post, the error seems to have disappeared.
Guess, I'll consider this issue solved. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

Do you have any CDS service used in the app of this environment? Have you set the database with CDS service?
