Hello, I have inherited an export of a power apps Canvas and I would like to import it with my account. Unfortunately the import reports errors on some flows. Is there a method to solve this problem?
I have attached screenshots of the import.
Thank you.
Michele.

Hi Michelle,
I'm not very familiar with the specific error message (seems like there are some excel resources that can not be found on the location where you want to import this app).
Unfortunately I have had similar errors before.
In some cases, only thing that worked was disconnecting te flows that were giving problems from my app.
Then I exported those flows from PowerAutomate and imported them by hand.
Lastly I imported the PowerApp, and reconnected the flows in the PowerApp.
It is a pain, but it worked.
Since then I try to avoid this from happening by:
- packing my apps and flows in a Solution and using environment variables for my datasource connections if possible.
- Avoiding creating a flow for something that can be done directly from PowerApps. For example, I see (according to the names) that you have flows for retrieving, adding and deleting data. In a lot of cases you can do this directly from a PowerApp. Adding data can be done for example by SubmitForm actions of use of the Patch() function.
I hope this is helpful for you. If so, please click on the Thumbs Up below and Accept it as the solution, so this could be helpful to others with the same problem.
Kind regards, Jan-Pieter

Hello Jan-Pieter, thank you very much for answering me.
The answer is technically very clear to me, but I need to learn a little more about the solutions and variables you recommended.
I think I will only rewrite the CRUD part of the application following your advice and I will try to improve the other parts by eliminating the obsolete or useless parts born from a first version of the app and which are now no longer needed.
A thousand thanks.
Michele.
Hi Jan-Pieter,
I forgot to tell you that the choice of using many streams is given by the fact that the app manages many excel files, one per project and that must be opened dynamically with a name like PROG61345 or PROG61467 and are located in different folders in sharepoint, from here the choice not to directly connect excel as a data source, but to use power automate flows. Do you think there is a different solution. Thanks again. Michele.
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for your reply, and I wish you all the best with getting the export/import job of your app done!
I know too little about your current app to be of any value advising a different solution. If you need a lot of tables to connect with, well that is not something to change easily. Especially if the number of connections would be very high it can impact the performance of your app.
However, it can be interesting to see if you can use SharePoint lists instead of Excel. They give you also more possibilities concerning governance of your data.
Hi Jan-Pieter,
while studying the app that I can't import I discovered that the power_automate flows that give the error are those that call shared office.script typescript scripts that when exported were run under the user luciano .moroni@bobst.com .
Perhaps this is the reason that importing into the michele.lomonaco@bobst.com account goes wrong ?
As you suggested in another post, you needed to undock those flows before exporting the app and export the flows separately.
I'm deepening the study of solutions and I understood the power of environment variables.
Thank you for leading me in the right direction.
Greetings.
Michele.
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for replying, and I'm glad that you considered my comments useful and that it helped you find out about solutions and environment variables.
I'm not sure running the flow under a different connection is the problem, but if possible you could also test if it helps to change the connection to your own account. Unfortunately I'm no expert about typescripts and I don't know if those connections are with another user (considering different user permissions for those scripts for example). But I hope changing the connection or ex/importing them separately will solve this issue.
With kind regards, Jan-Pieter

The Reading Dynamics 365 and Power Platform User Group is a community-driven initiative that started in September 2022. It has quickly earned recognition for its enthusiastic leadership and resilience in the face of challenges. With a focus on promoting learning and networking among professionals in the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform ecosystem, the group has grown steadily and gained a reputation for its commitment to its members! The group, which had its inaugural event in January 2023 at the Microsoft UK Headquarters in Reading, has since organized three successful gatherings, including a recent social lunch. They maintain a regular schedule of four events per year, each attended by an average of 20-25 enthusiastic participants who enjoy engaging talks and, of course, pizza. The Reading User Group's presence is primarily spread through LinkedIn and Meetup, with the support of the wider community. This thriving community is managed by a dedicated team consisting of Fraser Dear, Tim Leung, and Andrew Bibby, who serves as the main point of contact for the UK Dynamics 365 and Power Platform User Groups. Andrew Bibby, an active figure in the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform community, nominated this group due to his admiration for the Reading UK User Group's efforts. He emphasized their remarkable enthusiasm and success in running the group, noting that they navigated challenges such as finding venues with resilience and smiles on their faces. Despite being a relatively new group with 20-30 members, they have managed to achieve high attendance at their meetings. The group's journey began when Fraser Dear moved to the Reading area and realized the absence of a user group catering to professionals in the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform space. He reached out to Andrew, who provided valuable guidance and support, allowing the Reading User Group to officially join the UK Dynamics 365 and Power Platform User Groups community. One of the group's notable achievements was overcoming the challenge of finding a suitable venue. Initially, their "home" was the Microsoft UK HQ in Reading. However, due to office closures, they had to seek a new location with limited time. Fortunately, a connection with Stephanie Stacey from Microsoft led them to Reading College and its Institute of Technology. The college generously offered them event space and support, forging a mutually beneficial partnership where the group promotes the Institute and encourages its members to support the next generation of IT professionals. With the dedication of its leadership team, the Reading Dynamics 365 and Power Platform User Group is poised to continue growing and thriving! Their story exemplifies the power of community-driven initiatives and the positive impact they can have on professional development and networking in the tech industry. As they move forward with their upcoming events and collaborations with Reading College, the group is likely to remain a valuable resource for professionals in the Reading area and beyond.
