Exit() - Close Tab - Redirects to dynamics

The exit function with boolean parameters works fine.

But is there a way where Exit() can close the tab.

Right now it redirects to home.dynamics.com

Any ideas?

Thanks,

S.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you want to close Browser tab when you execute the Exit() formula?

If you want to close Browser tab when you execute the Exit() formula, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

The Exit() function is used to exit current running app, the user is returned to the list of apps, where they can select another app to open.

If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps, please consider submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

@Anonymous

This feature does not currently exist in PowerApps.

I would suggest voting for the Idea here https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/PowerApps-Ideas/Closing-the-browser-tab-when-form-is-submitted-saved/idi-p/181759

You can close the canvas app, albeit a different way. I published an article on this, check this out:

A workaround would be to redirect the page to a simple externally hosted HTML file which calls/triggers the window.close() JavaScript method to close the tab. It's easy to create.

So easy, that I even provide one which you can use in the meantime:

Launch("https://power-app-close-tab-by-maarten-docter.vercel.app", Blank(), LaunchTarget.Replace)

The LaunchTarget.Replace will open the URL in the current window, so a redirect will take place. As soon as the URL is loaded, it will close the tab.

Hi @Anonymous

Exit(false) didn't really work for me. But this work for me.

Launch('https://your.redirect.link", Blank(), LaunchTarget.Replace)

Regards

Ron

@Maarten_Docter this doesn't seem to work for me 😞

While editing the app, the close button opens and closes a new window, but when published, it opens a blank page. I tried your URL and my URL. When I open the URL in a new window, it works. It doesn't work in the same window 😕

Any ideas?

Hi @GrischkePro, I'm on a holiday, so can't test right now. Maybe there was a change in the runtime? Next week, when I'm back online, I'll make a small proof of concept app to validate it's old behavior. Sorry I can't help you sooner.

@mdocter

Hey, did you manage to have a look at this for me?
