Explain PowerApps License Please

In my organization, i need to use CDS for my data, so I have Premium subscription. When I create Apps, share them with users of my org, properly, do they need a PowerApps License to USE Apps I create and share with them while their datasource is CDS? If Yes, then we must be millionaires to be able use CDS!

Thanks for reaching out.

You need two types of licenses - A P2 license to create the CDS database/model the data (IT admin/developer) and a P1 license to access it (users).

Please review pricing structure here - https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/

Additionally, we have also documented a few scenarios here - https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/pricing-billing-skus/

Hi @sabinn, At first, I accepted your answer as solution BY MISTAKE!

3 Weeks ago, PowerApps and Teams were integrated, that if a PowerApp is added to team tab, that Team would be able to USE "shared" PowerApp, including if the backend data is CDS

See below: -

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/powerapps-teams/

And see input of Ankit Saraf from PowerApps Team.

Now what do you think? if the below is true that users would need a P1 license, then this is really:

1. Unfair

2. Above post is misleading!

@Yahya- I think there is some confusion here, I had explicitly stated that the premium capabilities like CDS or premium connections will require PowerApps licenses or trails. Here is my reply, stating that you need to remove CDS or start a trial for the users:

The fact that a PowerApps app in embedded in Teams doesn't change the licensing requirements for PowerApps or CDS or any other underlying data source.
