Fill Dropdown Menu with an empty value (Excel datasource)

Hello everybody,

first of all my problem seems very easy to solve but I'm looking for a way to give my users the option to select an empty value in a dropdown menu when my data source is an excel file. My target is that my users have to select between an empty value "", "Name A"and "Name B".

The dropdown menu is connected to an excel file with the following table structure:

table name: Users

UsersName

User 1Name A
User 2Name B

Items property: Users.'Name'

As you can see there is an "empty" row which I thought that this is my solution. But PowerApps always ignore the empty row in my excel data source. So the user has to select between "Name A" and "Name B" instead of " "; "Name A" and "Name B".  For example, by directly using ["";"Name A";"Name B"] on the items property this will work. But I want this with an excel file connected to my dropdown.

Could anybody help me please?

Best regards,

PA

Re: Fill Dropdown Menu with an empty value (Excel datasource)

Hi @PowerAnalytics

Create a collection based on the excel column and just prior to that add an empty item in collection

example :

Collect(colDropdown, {Name:""});Collect(colDropdown, Exceldatasource.Name)

then use this collection for your dropdown
