Filter / Delegation Working in One Gallery, but NOT Another!

Hi Power Community!

So I have built an app that uses several galleries, and I have delegation, filter (through search text box), and a toggle for open record/all records working on all of them, with the exception of one gallery. This one has me stumped, as I have the exact same code structure copied from the working gallery to this gallery.

Working Gallery 'Items':

MechEng2013_0-1660052747346.png

this continues on with more logic tests and results...

"xgallery.text in ThisRecord" works great for delegation in this gallery. I can search all the fields fine, and it doesn't have to be the "startswith()" function which is nice.

Here is the non-working gallery "Items":

MechEng2013_1-1660052885655.png

The only difference obviously being I have an extra "If" statement for a dropdown box to sort based on the MOD Number, or by Anticipated Change Date. I might be able to clean that structure up a bit, but haven't spent time on that yet. The Dropdown.Selected.Value test returns a true boolean, so that is working fine. This code results in the gallery being blank, not showing any records.

Now, if I use StartsWith() here instead of "in", then my gallery does populate, BUT I cannot use the search box, or it will go blank when I type anything into the text box.

Thanks for considering to provide input today!

Ok, yeah that's fair - and the first formula hsouldn't have the delegation issue I mentioned if it's Dataverse.

However, the second one still stands -  the docs have a reference point 4 with regard to IsBlank on Dataverse - so try compare with this and let me know if that sorts it:

ThisRecord.'Date Completed' = Blank()

(I also assume all of the columns you are searching 'in' are not lookups/relationship fields)

Also, I only have ~550 rows of data in the ECN table with issues. The one that is working has over 2,200 rows of data and works perfectly.

Can I assume this is SharePoint?

Worth noting that 'in' is not delegable for most datasources and types, so while your first example is bringing back records currently, that's only while the number of completed records is <2k ( this is your other filter condition), after that your filter of ThisRecord.Complete may bring back more items but your 'in' will be limited to the first 2k items returned from that.

In your second example you are using IsBlank(), which is is not delegable in SharePoint. You should instead try:

ThisRecord.'Date Completed' = Blank()

This will be delegated to the datasource.

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry, I should have stated all my data sources are CDS - Dataverse. Currently I don't have any Delegation warnings about the 'in' or 'IsBlank', and reading the Documentation on Microsoft's site it seems to be OK?

Odd that the documents don't show Dataverse as using In, but in the main doc about delegation it says it does in the same table, but it doesn't work in SharePoint still :P. I assume it works like SQL in that sense where it's Text in Column and not the other way. But agree with your assessment that the isblank probably the culprit here!

It's hard for me to determine whether or not the IsBlank() is causing a delegation issue, as it doesn't give me a warning - I'll take your valued word for it and start using the compare this way.

Thanks also for your caveat, as it solved my problem! I did not have a lookup, but I did have a choice column (which I suppose functions just like a lookup). I'll just deactivate that filter line and I'm good to go!

Thanks!!
