Filter or Groupby

Hi there,

I'm working on an app and got the folowing:

Screen1 with Gallery1, show the clients from datasource Artikels.

Client 1

Client 2

Client 3

Detailscreen1 with Gallery2, i want to show the artikels from the client that is selected.

I used

Items = Gallery1.Selected

And therefore Gallery2 showing me the client artikel

Artikel "Paint"   Amount "10"

But now comes the problem, when a Client has more Artikels, it only shows 1 item. How can i fix this?
I tried using GroupBy but i it won't work in combination with .Selected? Can someone help me?

Hi @PowerKoen,

You may take a try with the groupby and the sum togehter.

The formula should be in the format below:

Groupby(AddColumns(RenameColumns(Artikels, "Client","Client1"),
"SumCount",
sum(filter(Artikels, Client=Client1),Paint)),
"Client1","SumCount","Otherdata")

What sort of gallery are you using? It could simply be that your data is not being seen when it's in a gallery only shows title and subtitle by default.

Thank you for your respons.

Its not depending on the sort of gallery. This because the line is showing the correct data only the database got more values like:

Client 1   Paint   10

Client 2   Paint   20

Client 3   Paint   30

Client 1   Tape    1

Client 1   Tape    20

But currently its only showing me the selected client first row. So If Client 1 is selected it only shows:

Client 1   Paint   10

And not the other 2 value rows. Why is that? ANd how to fix it?

i found the reason, the previous gallery i had DISTINCT in it, then the second gallery wouldn't work.

But now i still have this problem:

I got Clients and Artikels as a data source.

From the Clients database, i made a Gallery1 with the clients. When you select a client you go to DetailScreen1.

DetailsScreen 1 is showing a form Gallery1.Selected.

My problem is, that i want to add a gallery to DetailScreen1. This Gallery2 uses info from datasource Artikels and is working.

But when i add to this gallery "Gallery1.Selected". Its not working, why? And how to fix it?

I tried Filter( Artikels, client = clients.selected.client) but not working either.

Maybe you are referencing a lookup values. In which case wrap “clients.selected.client in a Lookup() function

Hi @PowerKoen,

Please first take a look at the following article to understand how the form and gallery works in PowerApps:

Understand canvas-app froms in Microsoft PowerApps

If you would like to display all the selected items for the single client, we could juse take use of a Dropdown control, instead of the Gallery.

For example, switch the Gallery1 with Dropdown control, then change Dropdown control items property as:

Artikels

Under the advanced tab, specify the Value field to Client Column,

Then under Gallery 2, specify the Items property to:

Filter(Artikels, client=Dropdown.Selected.Value)

The Detail form control is used to display single record, which can't be used to display with Multiple records.

It has two property that need to filled with:

1. Data Source property - specify the data source, to build up the connection

2. Item property - specify the corresponding record to display in the form control,

Please post back if you have any further questions.

Michael

Cheers! It worked!

So when i make a choice in a screen (example gallery 1 or dropdown1 doesnt matter) and then navigate to detailscreen.

On the detailscreen i can used gallery1.selected, but then i can't use multiply sources.

Its better to add a dropdown on detailscreen (i can even hide it) with gallery1.selected.

And then add gallery's on the detailscreen which refers to that dropdown.selected.value.

Thank you!

But when in the database (excel one drive) i got more lines on the same artikels on the same client.

Artikels:

Client A Paint 10

Client B Paint 20

Client A Paint 5

The gallery wont show both lines (paint 10 and paint 5). It can only show unique lines, why is that?

I want it to filter on client A and if there are more artikels with the same name, i want them to add up and show as one.

Like this:

Client A Paint 15

I tried combining the Distinct (Artikels, artikelname) in the filter formule. But its not working correctly. Or do i need to use GroupBy with a distinct / sum function or?

Hi @PowerKoen,

You may take a try with the groupby and the sum togehter.

Groupby(AddColumns(RenameColumns(Artikels, "Client","Client1"),

I tried the groupby and sum together.

In your example your changing the colom client to client 1 and then sum the paint.

But every client got serveral artikels in an excel sheet, like this example:

Client A:
Paint 10

Paint 20

Tape 5

Tape 10

etc.

Client B:

Paint 100
Paint 10
Tape 100

I want that when a Client is selected with "Client=Dropdown.Selected.Value" a summary is shown:

Paint 30
Tape 15

From that selected client (dropdown).

Is there a way to do this? Really appreciate the help!
