FilterString from Buttons

I have multiple buttons lined up to display as a menu. Next to them on the same screen is a list I want filtered by these buttons. How can I pass a filterstring to filter that gallery?

Filtering is based off a multi value that includes Not Started, In Progress, Completed

Button example = UpdateContext(Filter(',SharePointListName>',Mechanic_x0020_Status.Value="Not Started"))

Re: FilterString from Buttons

Try

Filter('<List Name>',Mechanic_x0020_Status.Value=statvar)

If that fails try to see

Filter('<List Name>',Mechanic_x0020_Status.Value="In Progress")

Re: FilterString from Buttons

I take it you list is filtered on a data source. I would put some text into variable on the button on select like set(myvar,"started")

Use this variable in your list filter

Re: FilterString from Buttons

Sorry, I am still a bit lost. Based on your suggestion I set the button to: Set(statvar,"In Progress") for one of five buttons.

The gallery items is set to: Filter('<List Name>',Mechanic_x0020_Status.Value='{statvar}')
