Filtering data on a form using a Lookup

I am struggling to find a way to filter the form to only show items that have not been processed.
It is possible that there could be multiple entries for the same "Role" but there can only be one that is open.
I have a field in my list called Approval Status and I only want the lookup to show items where the Approval Status is not equal to "Processed". So my first thought was, could I reference two different data sources in my "Search(Filter( function used in the dropdown. My next thought was changing the formula for the Item property of the form.
Can anyone please assist?

I wound up making some changes. The Roles list wasnt the correct list to point at so once I changed up the logic it now works as expected.
