Form Combination Field in View Mode

Hello,

I am trying to create an App. One Screen contains a form which then saves Values to a SharePoint list. It is possible to open this Screen with an Record from a Gallery in a previous screen in ViewMode. The ID is taken over correctly into the Form Screen, but my Combination Field shows me nothing. I tried using the Default and Default Selected Items properties, but it forces me to use a table value, and thus showing the ID from "ThisItem" which is already shown in another field. How can I let this combination field show me the selected value from the previous screen?

My Formula was as following; If(DisplayMode.Edit;Blank();First(Fitler(Table;Name = ThisItem.ColumnName))) - which is not working

But: If(DisplayMode.Edit;Blank();ThisItem) Works fine but showing me the wrong Data.

Any ideas?
Thank you in advance!

Hi @PhilippMer ,

To change the control for a Text column, again go to Edit fields and then select the control type. In the example below, the datacard will contain a dropdown for which you can then set the Items properties to whatever values you want the user to be able to select:

Hi @PhilippMer ,

The proper way to use a form in view mode is to use the ViewForm() function to change the FormMode to FormMode.View. The form control will then use its' Item property to to display. Assuming you are using a gallery to select the item to be viewed, you can set the Item property of the form control to Gallery1.Selected. Of course you'll need to change "Gallery1" to the name of your gallery.

Default or DefaultSelectedItems properties are mainly used in datacards to set the value in FormMode.New, and hence are not the way to go.

Thank you for your reply, it really helped me out. I wanted to ask, I changed the Item property of the form but now I wanted to ask if the combination field inside the DataCard needs a Default property like Parent.something?
Cant find something to work. Thanks in advance!

Hi @PhilippMer ,

The standard formula for the DefaultSelectedItems property of a ComboBox in a form is Parent.Default whilst the Default property is blank if that answers your question.

Im getting an error for the DefaultSelectedItems property when changing it to Parent.Default as I need a Table Value instead of a Text Value... Do you have an Idea why this is happening?

Hi @PhilippMer ,

Unless you have done any other customization of the datacard, I would suggest to delete it and add it back to the form. That's way easier to reset it to standard than going through a lot of troubleshooting steps.

Deleting the datacard is easy, but to add it back you need to select the form, then click on Edit Fields and then Add Field:

Hi @BCBuizer

Thank you for your help. I did as you advised and the new Text Field shows me the correct values. But I dont want to have a text fied- i want to change it to a CombinationField. So I enter the DataCard and Insert a combination Field and try to add the Parent.Default property to DefaultSelectedItems which is still not working. Am I doing something wrong here?
