Gallery Nav. within a Component - selected record "jumps" when navigating

I followed this tutorial and created a menu using a gallery within a component.

Each record in this gallery within the component is populated by an input property "Menu Items", and also, OnSelect of the gallery is set to Navigate(ThisItem.screen,ScreenTransition.Fade)

Outside of the Component (in the App), OnStart is set to run the following:

(i.e. it creates a collection ColMenuItems, and within that, the "screen" column is set to reference valid screen names).

The component is inserted into all three screens in the app, and has it's MenuItems property set to ColMenuItems.

Everything functions well (navigation & menu item OnSelect etc.)

However, each time it lands on the selected screen, the menu item that was selected within the component's gallery jumps in a seemingly random way to a different menu item (giving the visual impression that the app failed to navigate to that menu item).

I have tried setting the Default gallery setting to Last(ColMenuItems), but this doesn't fix the jumping.

Any ideas how to keep the gallery item selected within the component?

edited to add that the seemingly random jumping isn't random at all. The gallery selections are simply retained on each screen separately, and the gallery selection displayed upon navigating to that screen is from the last gallery selection on that screen.

If Gallery jumps around try the following:

1. Try using the Select function somewhere right after your screen gets OnVisible to make PowerApps select the item you want the Gallery to "Select" (this also may help make it not jump to some other one). Depending on your case you may need to use Timers - for help on this, you can use the following example or tutorial as a starting point: You can adapt this recipe we created:App Timer Wait Recipe so that you start a timer that waits a few milliseconds, and at the end of the timer it selects the item, because it's possible if the Select is done too soon or too early, it may not resolve your issue because for example perhaps the jumping is done slightly later after the screen is visible, and your Select may need to be done a little bit after whenever the jumping is happening from within the app. Please note, we do not have a specific recipe published on these forums for Timers in the specific context of when a screen is Visible that attempts to deal with a "jumping Gallery"- but you can use the generic recipe above as a starting point to understanding how you might use Timers in general and you can try and adapt it to this specific case of yours.

On reflection, the menu selection isn't actually random at all. It simply displays the gallery item (in the component) that was last selected *on that screen*. i.e. not the last one selected overall in the app.

So I guess the question is more how to transfer gallery item selections from screen1 to screen2? Is the "select" function the best way to do this... or is there a way to make galleries *spread across multiple screens* behave as a single gallery, rather than multiple separate galleries (which require re-selection upon navigating to their page)?
