Geolocation

Hi all,

I'm able to populate a text type column with the user's coordinates, but what I'd *really* like is to convert their coordinates to city/state automatically and populate that instead.  Also to be able to populate a list based on the user being x miles from the coordinates or city/state in a list.  Not finding a lot of examples of how the "Location" type column works in a sharepoint list.

Hi @russrimm,

 

The new location column allows you to add rich location data utilizing the Bing Maps API to your lists. So if you cannot convert coordinates to city/state automatically in Location column, then this might cannot be achieved with SharePoint list so far. 

 

The PowerApps data source for the list does not recognize the geo location column but does recognize the related columns as shown in figure below.

It seems that this is a SharePoint issue,  please post in SharePoint community instead if you have further questions:
