Getting the display names from a picklist in a dropdown?

Hi all,

I have some pick list with 2 hour time frames as DisplayName but the name has to be something Alphanumeric.

I made a little code so the Name TF_05_to_07 is 05:00 to 07:00 as a DisplayName.

The Picklist is in my entity and I have the CDS in my app.

When I create the dropdown I am only allowed to use the Name not the DisplayName.

I really want the users to have a simple time picking time trams not having to use some code that I create. Failing that I'll have to hard code it to the dropdown, which I dont want to do.

many thanks.

Re: Getting the display names from a picklist in a dropdown?

Hi KeithWhatling,

It might be a default behavior that the app will use the Name but not the Display name of a picklist.

While when we configure a Picklist, the name is asked to start with a letter followed by alphanumeric or underscore(‘_’) characters. So it is not possible to configure the Name as what you want.

Please consider to submit a request at PowerApps Ideas Forum so that we could select either Name or Display name of a Picklist on an app. I will help collect and report it on my side:

Re: Getting the display names from a picklist in a dropdown?

Hi,

Its rather confusing then to have the Display Name feild for pick lists then as this would indicate that this was what is displayed to the user.

From a useability standpoint it would be a nice to have option.

I'll post in the Ideas section.

Thanks for the reponse.
