Glitch with Window Size View for Canvas App

Anyone else experiencing this behavior with a canvas app when previewing where the app suddenly stops fitting the window and collapses on itself, leaving that hideous, unused gray space on the left? Microsoft demos/examples show the window resize always fitting the window as would be expected.

Hi @arpost ,

In preview mode of Power Apps Studio, the gray area will always be there so you may have to publish and run the App instead to see the actual result of adjusting the Screen.

Hope this helps.

@v-jefferni, thanks for the reply. The thing, though, is this shouldn't be there with the new responsive features Microsoft released. The whole idea of the Window Size feature is that you can deactivate the Lock Orientation/Scale to Fit settings and have a truly responsive application; this glitch in the Canvas App Studio means I CAN'T see what the app looks like on mobile, which isn't expected behavior. It also hides the Exit Preview icon, so I can't get out of the preview mode.

As an example, see this image from Microsoft's blog (source) showing how the resize should work; notice no grey sidebar when the app is reduced to more of a tablet/mobile device size:

Hi @arpost ,

When creating a new App, you will see two kinds of default layouts: Tablet and Phone:

So actually the new "Windows size" is more likely a workaround for the Tablet layout use on Windows browsers. If you will have the App run on mobiles, the Phone layout would be much better.

Hope this helps.

@v-jefferni, thanks for the reply. The idea with this new feature is that it lets you actually experience your app on all device sizes bet it desktop, tablet, or mobile, so it's supposed to let you view it responsively as if you were on any screen. I've now got a ticket up with the Power Apps team, so here's hoping they will fix it soon.
