Hi All,
This is my very first app. I used the "edit forms" option in my SharePoint list to try to create a custom edit/add/view form. It seems to have created the forms OK, using a single column layout. But it did not add all my columns as fields. There are a few text inputs missing for some reason.
1st question - I assumed there was an easy way to see all the fields/columns available in my SP list that's connected, and somehow just drag and drop the missing fields onto the form. But I don't see how to do that. So that means manually adding a text box...but then how do you "bind" that to the correct column in the list?
2nd question - When I add a new text field on my existing form, I can't add it below the existing. It's a single column layout. But I can't expand the size of the form (or canvas?? not sure the terminology). I can drag and drop it elsewhere, and it just goes on top of the existing fields. There is a scroll bar on the side already, so I don't know why it doesn't allow me to expand the height further.
Thank you for your help...I am so new to the platform.
I am including a screenshot, which hopefully helps explain this.
Solved! Go to Solution.
First to make sure, you have clicked the Add Field button in the field chooser and those fields are not there as well?
Also, I suspect for the 2 multi-line columns that you have the "Append Changes to Existing Text" set to "Yes". If that is the case, PowerApps cannot handle that type of column definition.
Please verify.
I'd recommend getting very familiar with the EditForms before trying to modify yourself. I find many start modifying things for something that already exists in the form control.
If your fields are missing and NOT found in the fields list editor, then they are not supported OR you have added or modified after you started to build the app - in which case, you need to refresh your datasource in PowerApps and then manually add the field (in the field edit list).
It's long, but comprehensive and well worth the view to watch my video on Edit Forms - everything you ever wanted to know and some things you never even dreamed were possible.
I hope this is helpful for you.
Thank you for the response. I will spend some time on your video over the weekend, and see if that helps.
Sounds good. Take a look at it and get some ideas and info on what you are about to take on. Then, by all means, post back any questions you might have.
I already stared watching about the first 40 mins of you video, which has been very good. So I started fresh with a blank app, with a new edit form manually connected to my SharePoint list. I have a total of 15 columns in my list (single line, multi line, number, choice, person or group, etc). But I still can't get more than 8 columns showing up in my data source as fields. The same 8 columns that were visible on my last attempt.
Any ideas what could be the reason for this?
Can you find one of the columns that is missing in the Fields list and then tell me what type of column that is in the SharePoint list?
For some column types, EditForms will not handle them by default.
Hi, and thanks for your reply again. Here are all my columns:
Columns that DID get added to my form
3 x Number
3 x Multiple Lines of text
1 x Person or Group
1 x Choice
Columns that did NOT get added to my form (and don't show up in the Data Source list)
2 x Multiple Lines of Text
I have included screenshots of the fields listed in the form, and from the SharePoint list.

Well now I feel like an idiot! Yes...they are there when I click "Add Field". I really appreciate your patience in helping me, and sorry for taking your time.
Sorry I assumed that at first and didn't suggest it. But then it occurred to me...
I am very glad that we got to the answer you needed.
