Hint Text for drop Down

I would like to modify the Hint text of these drop downs. It shows it currently as 'Find Items', but I would like it display something more appropriate. I'm able to do this with Text boxes, but I can't find a way to do it with drop downs.

Below are the fields I'm working with.

@alietzau

I believe this is a ComboBox that you want to change the "Find Items" to something else.

If so, then take a look at the InputTextPlaceholder property on the control.  There you can change it to what you want.

I hope this is helpful for you.

Thank you! That helps a lot!

I'm guess there's no way to do it for drop downs then.

@alietzau

No, DropDowns do not have a search capability like a ComboBox, so there is no hint text to be displayed.

However, if your goal is to have a "Select One" appear if nothing has been chosen (or something along those lines).  That is very possible to do.  If so, then knowing what your Items property is for the DropDown would be helpful as to suggest a method.  The basic principle is, create a seperate collection with a first item being "Select One" (or whatever) and then the rest of the items are your choices.

Hi @alietzau ,

Select the dropdown and go to dropdown where you can select items, on select, on change etc. There you will find an option named "NoSelectionText". Select  it and type in your desired hint text in the formula bar.

Hope this helps and is a solution for you.

SK

Hello @alietzau , I know it's been a bit but what I normally do is insert a label on top of the dropdown, make it as small as possible (especially avoiding the dropdown icon on the right, set the font color to a dark gray, and then set the Visibility property to IsBlank(Dropdown1.Selected). This is assuming you have AllowEmptySelection of your dropdown set to True.

Hope this helps!
