How can i access PDF files in a folder through SFTP server in powerApps.

Hi All,

I have created phone layout. 

One of my requirement is to read PDF files in a folder through SFTP Server in PowerApps.

I have added a SFTP connection to my powerApp. In the sftp server PDF Folder is present with Path C:\PowerApps\PDF.

In this folder we have 10 PDF files are present. I need to view those PDF's in PowerApps.

I have tried by adding those files in excel file an then i have viewed the PDF files but every time entering manually is not possible for the users.

please suggest me some other way to view the PDF's in powerapp without the excel sheet.

please gave me some solution for PDF view.

Do you want to preview these PDF files stored in your SFTP Folder using canvas app?

Regarding the needs that you mentioned, I afraid that there is no direct way to achieve your needs. As an alternative solution, please  check and see if the following blog would help in your scenario:

On your side, you need to add a Gallery in your canvas app to list all available PDF files. Then click each Gallery Item to fire a Power Automate Flow to get the File Content of the PDF file (pass the File Identifier to a Power Automate Flow, then you could get the file content based on File Identifier using "Get file" action in flow), and then return the retrieved file binary content back to your canvas app. Then within your canvas app, you could preview the PDF file based on the returned file content using the "PDF viewer" control.

Please refer to above blog, then apply it to your scenario, check if the issue is solved.

Yes , My requirement is to preview the PDF files in SFTP server.

Can i know any other way without sharepoint? ie., we will use sharepoint document library to show the PDF files in the folder. Likewise any other process to show PDFs present in folder.

I have tried with SFTP. In that I have added a folder with only PDFs. but when i try to add that as datasource it is not showing PDF files.

Could you please share a screenshot about your canvas app's configuration?

Regarding the needs that you mentioned, I think the solution I provided above could achieve your needs. You just need to replace the SP connector with SFTP connector.

In addition, the SFTP Connector is not a Tabular data source, it's a Action Data source, so you could not display the files stored in your SFTP Folder directly in your canvas app. You need to execute some actions to retrieve these files stored in your SFTP Folder.

Please add a Gallery control, set the Items property to following:

SFTPConnection.ListRootFolder()

then within your Gallery, add several Labels, set the Text property to following:

ThisItem.DisplayName

ThisItem.Id    // display Folder Id or File Id

...

then you could display all available files stored in your Root Folder. In order to get the File Content, please consider pass the File Id to your flow, then you could get the file content in your flow.
