How do I create an edit form?

This is probably a ridiculous question but I've never done this and I can't figure it out.

I have a 1 week calendar app that uses a Sharepoint List (Saginaw) as the data source.

(Excuse the ugly colors)

I had no problem creating a Form to make a new Entry :

However I also need them to be able to click on one of those calendar evens, and bring up the info to Edit and/or Delete.

I just copied/pasted my "Add New" window/form to make an "Edit" form and I changed the Default Mode to Edit. But I just get this No item to display :

So I am sure this is something simple, but how to I make the edit form pop up? I've seen help for like a single item, but I basically want the same as my New form, but an Edit (with a delete entry button ill add). I can't seem to get it to work 😞

Hey, awesome test record descriptions haha.

For the Edit Form, you need the "Data Source" property filled out with a table name or maybe a Sharepoint list in your case. Sorry, I haven't used Sharepoint as a data source so this is tricky for me to get right. You also need the "Item" property on the Edit Form to be populated and with what record should be displayed.

What I did is create a gallery for my "Cases", and each row in the gallery has a button that sets a variable called "currentRecord" to that record's ID. Then, I have a Edit Form that looks at my Cases table for a data source, and the Item is the currentRecord variable.

Gallery on the left, Edit Form on the right.

OnSelect code for my gallery button (the blue > icons):

Select(Parent);
Set(currentRecord, Parent.Selected.Case);

Data properties for my Edit Form:

This is all on one page, though. You may want to make the action which sets the currentRecord variable also take you to another page where its just the form. Then add another Navigate function to the Edit Form's Save button to take you back to where you were. This is optional though.

Select(Parent);
Set(currentRecord, Parent.Selected.Case);
Navigate(YeOldeEditFormScreen);

You will need a Save button of some sort on your edit form, though. A Button with the code below as its OnSelect property would work fine I think. Don't be a goofball and make one of the field's OnChange property submit the form, that's just asking for tons of writes to the DB.

SubmitForm (EditForm)

What you have so far looks great, so I am confident if you made it that far, the info I provided should be enough for you to figure out this Edit Form. Let me know here if you have any other questions as you're working through it. Good luck, and sorry about your exploding trucks!

Also, don't forget to add some fields to the form for you to edit.

@TrekW ,

I got it working. I was actually 90% there. I should have mentioned I was doing this in a popup window, not a new screen.

I had this for the Onselect on my gallery items :

CharlesBrewer_2-1685565422554.png

All I had to do was on the Form, set Item = varPopUpRecord

And it started working. Such a silly little thing, I was trying Gallery6.Selected but alas, working now.
