How do I get dropdown to populate with previous saved selection?

Hi All

Hope you're all well?  I have an app that saves data to a SP list. What I am trying to do is that when anyone clicks on the edit icon to edit an existing record, all fields (including dropdowns) should show their previous content.

While text fields are showing up fine, its the dropdowns that aren't working, they're just in their default blank state. The previous data is there in the SP list however. For now I am using a workaround to show the previous data as a label but I just cannot figure out why it wont populate the dropdown(s) (see image below).    Of note, the SP List dropdown fields are set to `single line text`. As always, thanks for any help/input you can provide!

Have you set the “default” property of the drop down box?  If not, you should be able to use what you are using for labels.  Worth noting that the value you’re trying to display must be available in the list.
