How to batch load Sharepoint items in PowerApp

I am having some issues with performance when loading Sharepoint items in my PowerApp. The main reason is that one of the Sharepoint columns contains a large base64 encoded image, so the response body is quite large. It takes over a minute for items to appear in the gallery in my PowerApp.  

 

I am using the Sharepoint data source to retrieve the items, and I have tried to use Filter(), FirstN() and First() to reduce load time. Even when only collecting a couple of items the load time is slow.

 

The app works like a scrolling through Facebook, displaying images and author. 

 

Any suggestions to how I could approach this different?

Are you getting a delegation warning?

Check the App checker

 

If there is a delegation warning then all the work of loading data is done by PowerApps which would impact performance
