How to save a new form and stay in that form without exiting to the browse screen + ID manipulation

I currently have an existing database that I am moving over to sharepoint and powerapps. As you see, there is something pre-existing called proposal numbers, these serve as ID numbers and need to continue from where they left off. They can't be repeated and ideally would not be skipped, similar to the sharepoint ID column.gallery before.PNG

My solution to continuing this proposal number column was to use the sharepoint ID number and add a sum to it.

I am having some problems successfully carrying out my solution, I was wondering if there is a better way to approach this or if the bugs in my solution can be worked out.

My current approach:

To add a new item, I created a separate screen called NewScreen, here there is a formula that adds the ID number to the sum required to make the ID number match up with the proposal number. (This sum is a constant)new screen formula.PNG

Ideally this formula could be typed directly into the proposal number column, however this creates an error because of a circular reference. There is no ID number until after the form is submitted. Even if it wasn't a circular reference when the form is submitted the form closes and exits to the browse screen right away so the formula wouldn't have a chance to be carried out.

The round about way I got around this is when you go back into this newly created record and click edit, there is a formula in the proposal number box so that it =Label1_1edit screen formula.PNG

The Problems:

There are 2 problems with this. One is that proposal numbers should never be able to be changed after initially making them, but this edit screen makes them so it turns into whatever is stored in Label1_1.

My idea to circumvent this problem would be to save and recall the newly made record right away, so the record wouldn't be exited but an ID number would be created. After the save I'm assuming a formula could be put into the proposal number column using the ID number without it being a circular reference.

So my questions are:

  1. How do I use the SubmitForm function and stay on the same form with the record I just submitted
  2. How do I create a button that would show up after the submitform function is ran and the record is still open
  3. Is my approach to this too convulated? Is there a better way of doing this?

Thank you, this community has been a lot of help and I hope to be able to answer some questions that others have in the near future.

Sorry I can't answer all of your questions but in regard to the SubmitForm command causing your screen to go back to the gallery page(is that a correct interpretation?)

Check your form properties. Editable forms have three properties... OnSuccessOnFailure, and OnReset. These are actions that are carried out when the form is submitted either successfully, unsuccessfully or when the form is refreshed for a new record. If you have used Powerapp's tools to automatically create a form for you, it may have already put a Navigate command in one of these properties (probably 'OnSuccess'). Removing this command and replacing it with false may circumvent the issue.

About the first question, I think SubmitForm function of course can stay on the same form with the record I just submitted. Just with SubmitForm(EditForm) and that's it.

About the second one, you need to modify the Visible property of the button and the OnSelect property of the submit button.
