How to troubleshoot an "Unknown error occurred"?

I wonder how experienced users troubleshoot the unknown errors.

I want to be clear from the beginning: the question is not about how I fix a certain bug I'm having now, the questions is how to get the proper error message that says something other than "An unknown error occured".

For example When I try to Patch a SharePoint list datasource, I get an Unknown error when I'm trying to save a DateTime to a DateTime SharePoint column.

Is there a way to catch the real error, instead of the unhelpful "unknown error"?

Update:

Suddenly, a proper error message is displayed now, but I wonder how do I get this proper message consistently?

@DenisMolodtsov I can't say for sure why you saw "unknown error" before and later a detailed one. We recently released App checker to help easily see errors and corresponding messages and work is in-progress to make it even better.

Hi,

if you have valid date time in sharepoint list. copy that date time. the pass it as static value  in function just to check if it works.

IF it works then you can use date , text function to convert into required format.

Also if you are creating a new record try using defaults. Patch( IceCream, Defaults( IceCream ), { Flavor: “Strawberry” } )

@anees, App Checker is a nice addition, but it seems the error I've demostrated is run-time only. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought app checker only shows errors that are related to the "design time".

The unknown error I was receiving for about an hour (even after I've closed and reopened the app) was happening after the button was clicked.

@sudeep22169, thank you for the suggestion, but as I've mentioned the quesiton was not about fixing a particular bug but about troubleshooting teqniques that experienced App developers use. The question was "how do I get a real error message instead of the 'unknown error occured'".

App checker, for example was showing no errors whatsoever. So, I wonder - are there any other techniques? Should I use Fiddler of F12 tools in the browser or maybe some Chrome plugin to get more information? Things like that.

@DenisMolodtsov yes App checker is only design time. You can try F12 but I think in cases like this you will probably not find any more information than is already in the error message. We are actively working to make sure we surface better error messages.

Thanks

@DenisMolodtsov I too feel its difficult too debug in power apps.there no function like console.log or var_dump.. the most recent update is app checker functionality which i hope will be helpful.
