I'm encountering challenges when converting time zones for a DateTime column in PowerApps.

I am trying to update the scheduled date in a SharePoint list, and it appears to be inserting correctly. However, when I retrieve the date and time values, they do not reflect the exact datetime as stored in the list. It seems like they have been converted to the local time.
My SharePoint site settings:

PowerApps Page:

Code for inserting.

'ScheduledDate':" & If(
            IsBlankOrError(dtScheduled.SelectedDate),
            "null",
            Text(
                DateTimeValue(
                    Text(
                        dtScheduled.SelectedDate,
                        "yyyy-mm-dd"
                    ) & " " & Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeMinute.Selected.HourValue) & ":" & Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeSecond.Selected.MinuteValue)
                ),
                "'yyyy-mm-dd HH:mm'"
            )
        ) & ",

Date and Time Default Set formula

Please suggest, how to fix this issue . How to get exact date and time which is in SharePoint list .

Hi @rswain ,

Determine the Time Zone of Your SharePoint Site: Make sure you know the time zone of your SharePoint site and the time zone in which you wish to display dates and times.

Store Dates in UTC: When saving dates to SharePoint, convert any local times to UTC. PowerApps provides the TimeZoneOffset() function, which can be used to calculate the difference between local time and UTC time.

Here’s how you can adjust the time to UTC when patching to SharePoint:

DateTimeValue(
    Text(
        dtScheduled.SelectedDate,
        "yyyy-mm-dd"
    ) & " " &
    Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeMinute.Selected.HourValue) & ":" &
    Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeSecond.Selected.MinuteValue)
) - TimeZoneOffset()

Retrieve Dates in Local Time: If you want to display the exact UTC time from SharePoint without converting it to the user's local time, you will have to add back the TimeZoneOffset() when retrieving the date.

For example, if you are retrieving a date from SharePoint and displaying it in PowerApps:

YourDateColumn + TimeZoneOffset(YourDateColumn)

This will adjust the time from UTC to the user's local time.

Use Consistent Time Zones: Always use the same time zone when dealing with dates and times in both SharePoint and PowerApps to ensure consistency.

Testing: Test your app with different time zones to ensure that dates and times are being calculated and displayed correctly.

'ScheduledDate':" & If(

            "null",
            Text(
                DateTimeValue(
                    Text(
                        dtScheduled.SelectedDate,
                        "yyyy-mm-dd"
                    ) & " " & Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeMinute.Selected.HourValue) & ":" & Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeSecond.Selected.MinuteValue)
                ) - TimeZoneOffset(),
                "'yyyy-mm-dd HH:mm'"
            )
        ) & "

I just attempted to use the code based on your instructions. However, when I entered the date as "11-09-2023 7:00 PM," it was stored in the SharePoint list as "10/4/2024 9:00 AM.

@rswain ,

you can try this

'ScheduledDate': If(
    IsBlankOrError(dtScheduled.SelectedDate),
    "null",
    Text(
        DateTimeValue(
            Text(dtScheduled.SelectedDate, "yyyy-mm-dd") & " " &
            Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeMinute.Selected.HourValue, "00") & ":" &
            Text(ddlScheduleStartTImeSecond.Selected.MinuteValue, "00")
        ) - TimeZoneOffset() * 60, // Convert offset from hours to seconds
        "yyyy-mm-ddTHH:mm:ssZ" // ISO 8601 format including 'Z' to indicate UTC time
    )
)

Kindly mark the solution as accepted if it resolves your issue.

Best Regards
