Hi @Anonymous

AI Builder licensing has your answer

After the trial expires:

  • Trial environments expire after 30 days.
  • Once you purchase an AI Builder license, the usage will be limited to environments where the administrator allocates AI capacity.

Hello,

I'm trying to use the out of the box solution to create contacts via Business Card Reader and I'm receiving the same error. I also need to have the AI Builder licensing to use this feature?

Thanks.

In the case I do not went 100% clear, i'm trying to use it on Dynamics 365. I still need this license, right?
Sorry if this misdirected your previous answer.

Hi,

Indeed, since October 1st, the AI Builder Business card reader is no longer a preview feature and requires appropriate capacity to work.

A few options are available:

  • Wait until the Dynamics 365 2019 release wave 2 GA update reaches your organization (deployments are on-going throughout this month): Indeed, there will be some business card capacity provisioned by default with Dynamics 365 for Sales Enterprise and Customer Engagement.
  • You can activate an AI Builder trial to have 30 more days free of charge (which should cover until D365 for Sales go GA):
  1. Sign-in with the account that needs to use business card in https://www.powerapps.com
  2. On the left pane, click on AI Builder > Build
  3. Click on “Start free trial” on the top notification bar
  • Your administrator can buy the AI Builder add-on to provision capacity within your organization.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Hi @mustlaz ,

You mentioned there will be some business card capacity provisioned by default with Dynamics 365 for Sales Enterprise and Customer Engagement. Would you have more info on that? I didn't manage to find any official documentation on this.

Thanks,

Anne Pessoa

Hi Anne,

The updated D365 licensing guide should be available pretty soon.

Here are some more details about business card capacity in Dynamics starting from release Wave 2:

  • D365 For Sales Enterprise and Customer Engagement: 10 business card scans/user/month (pooled at tenant level)

Please don't hesitate if you have any other question.
