If statement for filtering gallery results

Hi All,

I assume this shall be fairly easy, however couldn't figure out the best way to do it. I have 3 drop-downs.. Region, Department and Status (SP columns) would need to filter gallery results on random selection of any option in the drop-down.

Thanks!

Search is not a delegable function.  However, you can overcome this in your formula by replacing with the following:

With({filteredData:
    Filter(myList,
       (ddRegion.Selected.Result = "All" || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result) &&
       (ddStatus.Selected.Result = "All" || Status.Value = ddStatus.Selected.Result) &&
       (ddDepartment.Selected.Result ="All" || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result)
    )},

    SortByColumns(
        Search(filteredData,
            SearchbyEmail.Text,
            "Submitter"
        ),
        "ID", Descending
    )
)

Consider the following:

Filter(yourList,
    Region = ddRegion.Selected.Value &&
    Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Value &&
    Status = ddStatus.Value
)

Keep in mind that the dropdown "Value" column may be different depending on what your DropDown control Items property is based on.

Also, your mileage may vary if the above columns are not simply text columns. If they are Choice columns you will need to account for that also.

I hope this is helpful for you.

Thank you for quick response, apologies I should have been more clear with my ask.. so basically I am try to achieve Cascading with 3 Drop Downs, I am able to achieve with 2 Drop downs so far. However, couldn't get the filtering done when I recently introduced the third 'Status' dropdown.

In my code I do have SortColumns and Search function as well, but I will leave that aside for now.

Here's my current IF statement:

    If(
    //For All and All selection in Region and Department
    ddRegion.Selected.Result = "All" And ddDepartment.Selected.Result = "All",
    myList,
    //For All Regions and Selected Department
    ddRegion.Selected.Result = "All" And ddDepartment.Selected.Result <> "All",
    Filter(myList, Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result),
    //For Selected Region and All Department
    ddRegion.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddDepartment.Selected.Result = "All",
    Filter(myList, Region = ddRegion.Selected.Result),
    //For Selected Region and Selected Department
    ddRegion.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddDepartment.Selected.Result <> "All",
    Filter(myList, Region = ddRegion.Selected.Result And Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result)
)

Here's my collection on screen load:

ClearCollect(FilterIdeasRegion,{Result:"All"});
Collect(FilterIdeasRegion,Sort(Distinct(myList,Region),Result));
ClearCollect(FilterIdeasDepartment,{Result:"All"});
Collect(FilterIdeasDepartment,Sort(Distinct(myList,Department),Result));
ClearCollect(FilterIdeasStatus,{Result:"All"});
Collect(FilterIdeasStatus,Distinct(myList,Status.Value).Result);

Hi @nmn_lamba

I think this may help you

if(

    //For All
    ddl1.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result,
    myList,

    //For First Dropdown selected
     ddl1.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result,
    Filter(myList, Filter1 = dd1.Selected.Result),

     //For Second Dropdown selected
     ddl1.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result,
     Filter(myList, Filter2 = ddl2.Selected.Result),

     //For Third Dropdown selected
     ddl1.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result <> "All",
     Filter(myList, Filter3 = dd3.Selected.Result),

     //For First two Dropdown selected
     ddl1.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result = "All",
     Filter(myList, Filter1 = dd1.Selected.Result And Filter2 = ddl2.Selected.Result),

     //For Last two Dropdown selected
     ddl1.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result <> "All",
     Filter(myList,Filter2 = ddl2.Selected.Result And Filter3 = dd3.Selected.Result),

     //For First and Third Dropdown selected
     ddl1.Selected.Result <> "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result <> "All",
     Filter(myList, Filter1 = dd1.Selected.Result And Filter3 = dd3.Selected.Result),

     //For Three selected
     ddl1.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl2.Selected.Result = "All" And ddl3.Selected.Result = "All",
     Filter(myList, Filter1 = dd1.Selected.Result And Filter2 = ddl2.Selected.Result And Filter3 = dd3.Selected.Result),
)

Thanks

@nmn_lamba

Please consider changing your Formula to the following:

Filter(myList,
    (ddRegion.Selected.Result = "All" || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result) &&
    (ddRegion.Selected.Result = "All" || Region = ddRegion.Selected.Result) &&
    (ddDepartment.Selected.Result ="All || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result)
)

And your collections to the following (just to shorten):

ClearCollect(FilterIdeasRegion,{Result:"All"}, Sort(Distinct(myList,Region),Result));
ClearCollect(FilterIdeasDepartment,{Result:"All"}, Sort(Distinct(myList,Department),Result));
ClearCollect(FilterIdeasStatus,{Result:"All"}, Distinct(myList,Status.Value).Result);

Let me know what you are sorting and searching on and we can add those to the formula as well if you need it.

@RandyHayes
Thank you, the two level cascading works fine for Region and Department, seems we missed the Status on filter query?

@nmn_lamba

Sorry, was looking at your posted formula and knew we had three criteria, but didn't notice I duplicated the Region.

I don't know the name of your dropdown for the status, so just replace in the below formula with the correct name - and of course, correct all the other names of lists and controls as needed:

Filter(myList,
    (ddRegion.Selected.Result = "All" || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result) &&
    (ddStatus.Selected.Result = "All" || Status = ddStatus.Selected.Result) &&
    (ddDepartment.Selected.Result ="All || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result)
)

Hi, the Status is a Choices column in SharePoint list, as declared in the collection and is not accepting this code or the equals sign:

(ddStatus.Selected.Result = "All" || Status = ddStatus.Selected.Result)

@nmn_lamba

If it's a choice column, then use this formula:

(ddStatus.Selected.Result = "All" || Status.Value = ddStatus.Selected.Result)

Super @RandyHayes !

It wasn't working for some reason earlier, so I just closed and restarted the app, then it worked fine..
The last item, if you could help with 'Delegation' received in 'Search' function on 'Submitter' column?
Where Submitter is a Single line text column.

SortByColumns(
Search(
    Filter(myList,
    (ddRegion.Selected.Result = "All" || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result) &&
    (ddStatus.Selected.Result = "All" || Status.Value = ddStatus.Selected.Result) &&
    (ddDepartment.Selected.Result ="All" || Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Result)
),
SearchbyEmail.Text, "Submitter"), "ID", Descending)
