In Powerapps Listing appended comments from SharePoint list

I have a SharePoint list that is serving a HelpDesk application that i'm building on Power Apps, But I am not been able to show the data on my "Notes" column on Power Apps. The list has the version setting enabled, and the Notes column also has the Append Changes enabled, however, my Help Desk app only displays the last Note made, not all of them.

How can I display all of the data in my Note column in my app?

Thanks in Advance.

The way an Append Changes field works is that it saves the current changes as a new version.  But in SharePoint the field will show all the versions of that field in one place.  There is nothing built into Power Apps that duplicates that functionality.  The easiest way to display the contents of that field is to use a Power Automate flow to retrieve each version of the item and build the field and build the note from those versions.  Then return that to Power Apps for display.  Here's an article with a full walkthrough of that approach.

@Nogueira1306 Thanks for your help.

We are using form method.

It works like similar to comment method. when the user edits the note and submit app should display the last edited notes along with pervious notes.

In share point list we had enabled the append option to the column but still in powerapps only the last data is seen.

I need to display as below

Thanks in advance

Okay... You can try to use "Concat" function and concat ALL notes from that item in a field...

How do you concat the appended notes inside a SharePoint list column?

hsfournier
Helper II

I will share my experience, as I found it extremely difficult to find info on how to deal with this issue myself.  So if you are trying to get this to work I would recommend checking out this tutorial: https://www.agarwalritika.com/post/get-version-history-from-mlt-field-on-sharepoint-in-canvas-apps. That is finally how I got something to work.

I tried to use Concat as one of the posters suggested, and was not able to get it to work. It would not Concat for the individual record, it would only Concat for the entire column, and so you saw all the comments for all the records.

Obviously, it was a mistake on my part to set the column to Append. So I created a new multi-line column and each time the Flow runs, I take the variable with that information and Patch it to the new column using an UpdateIf. I have replaced the field in my galleries and forms with the new column, so that going forward info is being saved into a column without Append set up. So eventually, all previous info will be largely copied over and I will do the last few and then delete that column.

@hsfournier Do you think you could help me with this, maybe give me screen shots of the automate flow.  I am getting an error and not sure where.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

You bet. Here you go. Just keep in mind in the Apply to Each the text replaced is based on the content in my Sharepoint column. Also for the Send HTTP request, I blacked out the name of the list, but tried to leave the ' ' surrounding it, but thought I would point that out in case it isn't clear in the screen shot. Hopefully, this all makes sense and solves your problem.

//updates the abstract info to the infractions column
UpdateIf(
    'Sharepoint List Name',

    {Infractions: varResponse}
)

Thank you so much, the automate worked with no errors.  Now do you think you could help me where to put the variables in the power app?  I have a gallery list that I would like to display all the comments in an HTML Text box on select of that gallery item.  Thank you so much for all your help, this is amazing I greatly appreciate it.
