Is it possible using URL query string to launch an app on a screen other than the default screen?

Hi I thought this might be possible by passing a parameter, but doesn't seem to work.

On my welcome screen - OnStart

Set(StartScreen,Param("Screen"));
If (StartScreen="DetailScreen1", Navigate(DetailScreen1,ScreenTransition.None))

Then in the URL I have

https://web.powerapps.com/apps/[app guid]?Screen=DetailScreen1

Unfortunately the Welcome screen persists.  Would anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you

Hi @Brice235i,

I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. The screenshot as below:1.JPG

Please check if your app have received a proper Parameter value from the URL that you provided (https://web.powerapps.com/apps/[app guid]?Screen=DetailScreen1). You could consider take a try to add a Label control within the first screen, set the Text proeprty of the Label control to following:

Param("Screen")

check if the Parameter value shows well.

The user @Itsmesri has faced same issue with you, please check my response within the following thread:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussion/Lookup-always-going-to-first-item-for-list-de...

In addition, please also take a try to type the following formula within the OnVisible or OnStart property of the first screen of your app:

If (
!IsBlank(Param("Screen")) && Param("Screen")="DetailScreen1",
Navigate(DetailScreen1,ScreenTransition.None)
)

then check if the issue is solved.

Please also check and see if the following blog would help in your scenario:

Best regards,

Kris

Hi @Brice235i

You should have a look at this article about PowerApps deep linking.

Basically, the solution is to use a timer control to navigate to another after 1 sec or so after the app launching.

Thanks Theo, I did find this article.  Unfortunately it is quite advanced and I do not understand it.

I'm trying to find a really simple answer to how open an app on a different screen when the query is called in the URL...   http://app address ?screen2

Thanks.

What you need to do, is on your first screen, I sert a timer control. Then set some properties of this control :

Timer.AutoStart : true (so the time start as soon as you arrive on the first screen, basically when the app is launched)

Timer.Visible : false (so the users can't see the timer)

Timer:Duration : 500 (0.5 seconde)

Timer.OnTimerEnd : If(!IsBlank(Param("yourParam")),Navigate(DetailScreen, None))

So, when the app is launched, the timer starts and it stops 0,5 seconde after. When the timer stops, if the parameter has been provided in the URL you'll navigate to another screen.

Hope this makes things a bit more understandable to you.

Hi, thank you for your reply.  That is really helpful.

Unfortunately it doesn't work, so I must have done something wrong.

Firstly I set the parameter on the Onstart property of the Welcome screen -

Set(StartScreen,Param("screen"))

Then I added the timer control..  which includes this formula on Timer End:

If(!IsBlank(Param("screen")),Navigate(DetailScreen1, None))

Tested using this URL:

https://web.powerapps.com/apps/[app guid]?Screen=DetailScreen1

It stayed on the Welcome screen and did not go to the Detail Screen as expected.

The Param function is probably case sensitive. Try Param("Screen") Also check that your timer starts automatically. And you can add a button and set the OnSelect property to Set(screenparam,Param("Screen")) and check is the value is well retrieved. Théo

I am really sorry for all your trouble and thank you so much for your help.  Turns out we have environmental issues.  I built the app on my dev tenant, no problems.  Thanks again.

I tried what you said on the first page, but I am getting the following. Any ideas what I am missing?2019-10-10_19-40-36.jpg

If(
!IsBlank(Param("ID")),
Set(CurrentItem, LookUp('Tasklist',ID = Value(Param("ID"))));Navigate(Home_1, None)
)
