Is there a way to tell if a sharepoint list changed prior to calling refresh?

Currently I am calling refresh in the onVisible property for a screen but it is affecting performanc.e I am wondering if PowerApps support an "IsDirty" flag or something like that to know if the data source has changed prior to calling refresh in my app.

If not, I will most likely add an IsDirty flag when my app changes the data source as a work around. The problem with that is if another instance of my applicaiton is running for a different user, they won't know about the changes. I would much rather check an "IsDirty" flag on the data source to know if data has been modified.

I think I know it is not supported but I figured I'd ask jsut in case.

Hi @geneZebra ,

I'm afarid there's no way to justify directly whether your data in sharepoint has been changed currently in PowerApps.

For now, refresh function just performs a full refresh, not having other internal optimization.

I suggest you express your views about adding this function on PowerApps Ideas Forum. Your precious feedback will be very helpful for our work.

What's more, in sharepoint list, there are two columns that named 'Created' and 'Modified'.

Created column is used to record the time that the item was created.

Modified column is used ti record the time that the item was modified lately.

Maybe you could compare these two columns' data. If data in Created and Modified is the same, it means that the record has not been modified after being created.

Best regards,

Re: Is there a way to tell if a sharepoint list changed prior to calling refresh?

It would be helpful to know if the refresh function is optimized internally to only update records that are different vs performing a full refresh. I haven't timed it but it does seem sometimes is much faster and other times not so much.

There is an UnSaved flag that tracks whether you have made any changes to the fields in the Edit Form in your PowerApp. But I'm not aware of any flag that will let you know that someone else has made changes to the data source behind the scenes.

I'll submit the idea but your the idea of using created or modified is what I was after but unfortunately a refresh would be needed to get those fields from the data source.

Thanks.
