Is there any simple way to select a specific item from a Gallery control?

Hi,

I'm trying to programatically select a specific item in a Gallery control, not by default, but by action.  Is there any simple way for doing this?  Here's the complete scenario:

I have the Gallery control on the right (of a landscape 'tablet' screen app) and the view/edit form on the left.  The gallery is connected to a sharepoint list data source. When I add a new item using NewForm() function, an item is created successfully.  However, after saving the new item using SubmitForm() function  the gallery re-selects the previously selected item -if one was seleced-, causing a confusing user experience.

Best Regards,

Maher
