Is there any way to manually scan using PowerApps?

Hello everyone,

I am currently trying to develop a scanning app with PowerApps and have a problem when there are multiple barcodes in small size label. It constantly scan a wrong barcode because PowerApps is automatically detecting a barcode and scan.

I am thinking if there is any way to add a button in scanning screen and manually scan by pressing this button and I don't know if it's possible in PowerApps.

It would be also good if there is any other way to achieve this in other method.

Thanks in advance,

Hi @wonykim ,

Do you want to scan barcode only if you click one button?

If so, you could change the barcodescanner control's mode.

Insert a button, set the button's OnSelect:

Set(var,true)

Set the barcode scanner's DisplayMode:

If(var,DisplayMode.Edit,Disabled)

Then, only if you click the button, the scanner will become valid.

If this solution still not works for you, I'm afraid there' no better way.

Because the barcodescanner doesn't have other property about changing mode.

In this situation, I suggest you express your views about this function on PowerApps Ideas Forum. Your precious feedback will be very helpful for our work.

Thanks for reply Phoebe,

It seems the created button is only to make the scan button clickable.

But my problem is that camera automatically detect a barcode after pressing scan button.

What I want is that..

I want to make the barcode reading manuually after I move to camera mode(barcode reading screen),

It could be possible if I have a button to scan in camera mode.

it's because it's not quite easy to aim one barcode, when multiple barcodes showns in the small label under current scan setting.
