Issue number once app has been submitted

Hi

I have a powerapp connected to a sharepoint task list.

In my task list I have a number which is generated once all the mandatory fields are completed. I would like to have this number shown on a new screen in my app once the user has submitted their request. Is this possible?

The number is made up from 2 fields. One is a calculated field and one is the TaskUID

I don't use you flow, its just a calculated field in my SharePoint task list which generates a number once you move on to the next line or close the edit window

When you do it on SharePoint the number is generated pretty much instantly once you move on to the next line

First of all, any command that you put following the SubmitForm() is executed immediately and you don't want to do that if the submission is unsuccessful.  The proper place should be in the OnSuccess property of the form.  That way, the command is not executed unless the data in the form is saved.  My suggestion would be to put a Navigate() function in the OnSuccess property of the form and to navigate to a Success Screen and use a label with its text property on the Success screen.

"Thank you for your request. Please use this tracking number for reference" & LookUp(datasource,ID=EditForm1.LastSubmit.ID,calculatedfield) 

Since the data is already submitted successfully, the calculation will already be in the last submitted request from the Edit form (EditForm1.LastSubmit) .  Have a button on the success screen to navigate back to wherever you want the user to go next.

Replace datasource with the name of your SharePoint list and replace EditForm1 with the name of the form that was submitted. In your case, Form1 and calculatedfield with the name of the calculated field in the SharePoint list. You may need two labels, one with the text "Thank you for your request. Please use this tracking number for reference " and the other with the Text property LookUp(datasource,ID=EditForm1.LastSubmit.ID,calculatedfield)

Ive put that formula in, however, I cant try it as Ive also moved some of the submit button's formula as you mentioned and now the form1 isn't appearing in play mode.

I have this in the submit button : SubmitForm(Form1_1)

and I have this in the forms "on success" field - NewForm(Form1_1);Navigate('Request Number Generation', ScreenTransition.Fade )

After I have submitted one request I now get a "no item to display" in the screen where Form1_1 should be

Any ideas where I may be going wrong?

Hi @Matt22365 

This is getting a little complicated.  I have no idea why you have a Form1 and a Form1_1 and what you are trying to do. Instead of navigating to Form1_1, add a new success screen and navigate to there from the OnSuccess property of the form.    If you are only using your editform for entering new data you need to set its default mode to New.  The Form's mode can be set when you navigate to it from another form, something like EditForm(Form1_1) ; Navigate(Screen with the form, Fade).  Forms have a default mode that is usually Edit.  This allows the form to be used to edit data in a record.  It is usually used from within a gallery before navigating to the screen with the form.  NewForm is usually used from outside of a gallery to enter a new record.  The Item property of the form references the particular record to be edited and since that record is usually selected in a gallery, the Item property is Gallery1.Selected.  It is ignored if the form is in New mode. Form modes are set with either EditForm(), NewForm() or ViewForm().

Thank you, I fixed the issue I was having RE empty screen.

Unfortunately the request number is still not working.

This is the formula I have been using is as follows:

LookUp(Tasks,ID=Form1.LastSubmit.ID,'Request Number')

I am just getting a blank box

Any ideas why?

Also I have a few different forms feeding into this sheet, is there a way to make it non-form specific?

Yes, I made a mistake in the formula it should be

LookUp(Tasks,ID=Form1.LastSubmit.ID).'Request Number'

Ive tried to go at this a different way. The formula section can be reproduced in the app itself so I have made a label for that:

"TL-ACF-"&Year(Today())&"_"

And if I show the biggest number in the list then it is most likely to be the most recent request.

So I have added Max(Tasks,ID) to the end

This gives me a number, but not the biggest. It shows me 501 where the biggest number in the list is in the 700's

Ive also tried Last(Sort(Tasks.ID,Ascending)).ID

This also only give 501

Any ideas on why this could be?
