Issue passing people combobox back to SharePoint list

I've got an app that is working exactly how I want except one thing. I have several combo boxes to identify PO approvers. I used the switch command (see below) to set some default values based on other information input into the form. However, I am making the boxes editable to provide flexibility. When I leave the default values, nothing is passed back to SharePoint even through the correct information is presented in the app. However, when running the app, if I remove the default selection and search for and select a different users, then that information is correctly passed back to SharePoint. I cannot pinpoint the difference. Anyone know what I might be missing?

Switch(DataCardValue16.Selected.Value,"SPG",Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:"FirstName LastName",top:1}),"DPG",Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:"FirstName LastName",top:1}))

Thanks for all your help. I just figured out the problem. It appears the search function only returns the top 100 listings in AD, hence my very odd case of it working sometimes on some people but not working on others. That's because the ones that were working had names that lined them up in the top 100 in the directory. I changed all the search functions from Office365Users.SearchUser() to Office365Users.SearchUser({top:999}) and now everything is working.

Hi @JamesWo ,

This is because the record format got from the default SP Person column is different from the record format got from Office365Users.SearchUser().

So you need to customized the record format(got from Office365Users.SearchUser()) when submit into a SP list. Try this formula on the DefaultSelectedItems of your combo box(change the searchterm inside LookUp fucntion to find the correct person you want):

Switch(DataCardValue16.Selected.Value,
"SPG",
{
'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
DisplayName:LookUp(Office365Users.SearchUser(),DisplayName="allen bai").DisplayName,
Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(LookUp(Office365Users.SearchUser(),DisplayName="allen bai").Mail),
Department:"",
Email:LookUp(Office365Users.SearchUser(),DisplayName="allen bai").Mail,
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""
},
"DPG",
{
'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
DisplayName:LookUp(Office365Users.SearchUser(),DisplayName="clover1").DisplayName,
Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(LookUp(Office365Users.SearchUser(),DisplayName="clover1").Mail),
Department:"",
Email:LookUp(Office365Users.SearchUser(),DisplayName="clover1").Mail,
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""
}
)

Allen @v-albai-msft ,

That was tremendously helpful! Interestingly, I am getting mixed results. I actually had more use cases than just the switch. I am also using an if statement. For the switch statement, it works for one users when set to DPG but when set to SPG, it blanks the field out.

For two of the if statements, it works for DPG but not SPG. For the other if statement, it works for SPG but not DPG.

Finally, I have two if statements just for when the cost is above a certain threshold and nothing is populating there.

Here's all the code.

Hi @JamesWo ,

I am not sure if I understand your issue correctly since everything works fine when testing on my side.

From your screenshots, seems that this is because you set two conditions, DataCardValue16.Selected.Value and Value(DataCardValue19.Text).

So when Value(DataCardValue19.Text)=3500(less than 5000)&& DataCardValue16.Selected.Value="SPG", you can only get a blank value, since this condition cannot meet your settings inside the If function.

Best regards,

Allen
