Items appear on incorrect date

Hi

I've built a calendar app, I then created a form to allow users to post their time off.

All was looking good until people started to use it...

The data is held in a sharepoint list and all the data I prepopulated into the list and added via the form displays correctly for me and others.

One user submitted 3 different days, and it all looks fine to her. However for me they are all 1 day out.

Days submitted were 10 Oct, 12 Oct & 25 Oct

I'm hiding the data for Saturday and Sunday, but you can see that Monday 10th has no data, Wednesday 12 has no data and Tuesday 25th has no data, instead we see Claire in 24th, 11th and we can assume 9th.

When i look in SharePoint I see the wrong dates - When Claire looks at the Calendar and SharePoint both show the correct dates

I can't for the life of me figure out what sort of setting would need amended so that our displays are the same. I don't have control of the regional settings of sharepoint, both of us are based in the same location.

As test I added labels with StartPick.SelectedDate and EndPick.SelectedDate so she could confirm that what she was selected was what was going to be passed through to SharePoint.

I then added 2 new text columns to the list and updated my patch command
Patch(
HolidayPlanner,
Defaults(HolidayPlanner),
{
Title: ErpMember.Text,
StartTime: StartPick.SelectedDate,
EndTime: EndPick.SelectedDate,
HalfDay:HalfDaySelecttNotAdmin.SelectedText,
StartDay: StartPick.SelectedDate,
EndDay: EndPick.SelectedDate
}
)

Here is what I see, and what the calendar sees when I view it - the dates visible for Claire are correct in SharePoint and the PowerApp

Thanks in advance for any help here.

Craig

So after going round in circles all week I have a solution:

Date picker is set to Local

SharePoint site is UTC
When submitting to sharePoint using Patch I used DateAdd -TimeZoneOffset(),Minutes as follows

StartTime: DateAdd(StartPick.SelectedDate,-TimeZoneOffset(),Minutes),
EndTime: DateAdd(EndPick.SelectedDate,-TimeZoneOffset(),Minutes)

This then published the dates correctly.

On the edit screen for the Default of the card I used DateAdd(ThisItem.StartTime,TimeZoneOffset(),Minutes) which also pulls the correct information back as expected.

We no longer have an issue of people posting their holidays and it not being visible, or in the wrong date range. Everybody sees the same thing whether they are in the UK or Europe.

Hopefully this will help if anyone else has a similar issue.

@CraigStewart

Try this

1. Select the Date Picker Control

2. Click the Date time zone dropdown, where it probably says Local right now

3. Change it to UTC

poweractivate_0-1665158348263.png

Try with just one Date Picker control first.

See if this makes the Date and Time that comes in more consistent.

If it does, make the change for all your Date Picker controls.

Hi

It did say 'local', but switching to UTC has made it worse for me

When I change it to UTC the dates that I then post are posting incorrectly to the sharepoint list;

Here I posted 22/09 to 22/09

CraigStewart_0-1665159784937.png

Immediately the display that pulls from the list showed 21/09

CraigStewart_1-1665159821307.png

Which is what also shows in the list

CraigStewart_2-1665159860300.png

On the label that should display the selected dates before submitting also now shows the wrong date

CraigStewart_3-1665160300225.png

Inorder to get the End Date to show the day after the one selected in Start Date I now need to add +3 to

DefaultDate: StartPick_1.SelectedDate+3

I'm really begining to hate dates 🙂
