License Error

We have Office 365 E3 license which includes PowerApps. However, today when we tried to use any of our PowerApps, we get a licensing error. Any ideas?

Re: License Error

Hi @thunter

Your Power App is using a premium connector and hence it requires the premium license assigned.

Here is the list of all connectors with their license tier

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/connector-reference/

I was previously told by Microsoft that since we had E3 license that PowerApps was covered and that we did not need a separate PowerApps plan.

E3 covers you for all standard connectors.

Any premium connectors used will need the premium license.

Check with the App Owner what connectors have been used in that App.

And compare it with the connector link I shared.

All my PowerApps use SQL Server connector which I see is Premium. So do I need a license for every user and every individual app?

Re: License Error

Hi @thunter

Yes. SQL became a premium connector on Oct 2019.

If your App was created after Oct 2019 - then all users accessing the App will need the premium license.

If your App was created post Oct 2019 - then the App is under the grandfather plan and covered for next 5 years

@RezaDorrani

Where can I find the creation date? I am sure all my apps were created prior to October 2019.

Thanks!

In the maker portal.

Select the App and select the Details option.

It will list out the Created date and the license designated.

We have been using these same PowerApps for 2 years now and no issues. Now all the sudden Microsoft is going to make me pay a premium price? That doesn’t seem right. I have several apps that we built that are used everyday by our users and they have always worked fine. Now my users are unable to use any of these apps.
