Hi all
I'm looking for a way to retrieve the "description" field of a URL/link collumn of a Sharepoint list. All I seem to be able to get is the link. Any ideas?
Thanks
Benedikt

Hi @Benedikt ,
Do you want to retrieve the "Description" field (display text) of the Hyperlink column of your SP list within an canvas app?
If you want to retrieve the "Description" field (display text) of the Hyperlink column of your SP list within an canvas app, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.
Currently, the "Description" field (display text) of the Hyperlink column in a SP list is not supported within PowerApps, if you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps, please submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

As an alternative solution, you could consider add a Single text column (called "Description") in your SP list to store the description info about the corresponding URL Link. Then within your app, you could get the Description field value directly.
Best regards,
The only description field I am aware of for a Hyperlink column in SharePoint is the description on the column itself. The individual items in the column only have a Link URL. There is no text description associated with them. So i'm not sure what you are trying to retrieve.

Best regards,
I've been seeing many people over SEVERAL YEARS asking for the ability to input and retrieve the url desription text from a URL field IN POWERAPPS. Many seem to not understand this simple request and are replying with methods of how to launch a url from PowerApps or use an HTML field. (??????)
The "description" people refwer to is the "Alternate Text" field completely visible in SharePoint hyperlink fields and has been in operation for over a decade.
This is the field:
And we want to input/edit/write to this part of the hyperlink field in powerapps which is not...............supported (?????) as indicated below. It's as if that alternate text field is some super-secret field thou shalt not tamper with lest SharePoint will crash.
Ok Microsoft. One cannot be any more plain than this. It's not difficult to understand what we need, have needed and asked for for MANY years. At least provide SOME KIND OF HELP for Pete's Sake! No, no one is going to add this to the USERVOICE rabbit hole, please don't insult our intelligence.
There's a truck load of fancy and cute little connecors to the myriad of various services out there that were'nt even in existance a decade before this has been asked for.
It is not funny that it has not been done by now.
Yes, you're absolutely correct. All you get otherwise are excuses, pseudo-confusion and backlash from Microsoft "in-lovers" that berate us for not doing a workaround. "How dare you ask a relevant question", "What do you mean a description", hoping the semantics will be enough to make us go away and shut up.
